Hi all,

Does anybody know the biggest LPG tank I could fit under my 2016 Bailey Approach Autograph 730. The messages I am getting suggest a 38ltr tank to be the biggest but I would go bigger if possible. I want to do the job myself so can't really take it to a supplier/fitter to measure up.

can't help with your set up , but I was faced with a similar problem on a chausson 620...
in original trim there was only room for the smallest tank autos supplied ...
I removed the existing gas locker to make room for a 50l tank I think it was.. then put a floor back into the gas locker for a little extra storage space
is that an option for you ??

Don't know who's tanks you're looking at and I can't help a lot but when I checked my Bailey 740 and compared capacities it seemed I could only get the 25lt tank at 884mm towards the front of the van, to keep the weight forward as much as possible, but also near to the gas locker. Given it took less gas than an 11kg bottle I opted for 11kg and 6kg bottles. I can't check again as the van's away, no doubt you've checked all the suppliers but here's Gasit.

These were my figures at the time:

25lt tank takes 20 litres of LPG (80%) (= 6kg of LPG approx.)

6kg bottle – 11.5 litres of LPG

11kg bottle - 21.5 litres of LPG

You could of course get a quote from someone and go off and "think about it". :)
 
Autogas2000 fitted a 55L tank to ourApproach 625. They usually fit that size to van on a AlKo chassis give them a call and ask for a Funster discount.
 
Sorry for the delay in replying, It looks like a 38 litre tank is being recommended. I am going to measure up myself and will purchase a kit and fit it myself. Probably late on in the year but I will update once completed.

Bear in mind that refillable tanks/cylinders are more flexible than swapped cylinders. When you swap a cylinder, it's normally at an inconvenient point. E.g. normally you're about to do a long trip and you've still got a bit left, but you swap to make sure. With a refillable, you can top-up at any time without losing anything, so you can top-up before a long trip and maximise the use of the capacity. You'll probably find 38l feels like it lasts longer than the equivalent Calors.
 
And you don't have to lug heavy canisters in and out of the locker.
 
We called in @Gasit and they measured up for us. 44ltr tank underslung right behind axle three and it's been great and gives you your gas locker back. (y)
