I'm a newbie
Just starting to plan on fitting an underslung lpg tank on newly acquired Autocruise Alto PPVC on a Boxer Maxi chassis so just asking is their more than one manufacturer of these tanks as most distributors seem to have the same tanks ( shape, size and colour etc ) Just asking in case I have missed something important ?

Tinley Tech have a good range and sell direct. i think you may be limited by where it will fit as opposed to whats available.

Gas it has a vehicle specific tank kit, and very well designed. I fitted one to my van from them and all gubbins came to around 300 quid. I like their choice of fittings and flexibility of fill up point mounts.

I don't know if it's changed since then, but when I had mine fitted, all the tanks seemed to be made by Stako in Poland. I got my stuff from Gasit, and had it fitted by a local auto gas fitter I know.

I bought my tank and fittings from autogas 2000.
I imagine the tanks like the cylinders come from a limited number of suppliers, and I'm sure an enquiry with one of the dealers like auto gas or gas it would clear up the different types available..
Andy..

I bought this 38Ltr underslung tank and kit of parts from Gas-it and fitted it to our Peugeot Boxer.

I made up my own mounting bracket to bolt the the chassis cross members as our floor construction in our MH is not suitable to bolt though the floor.
Gas-it now sell universal chassis mounting brackets for those that can not mount to/though their floor.

Wow I thank you all for the very informative information given, Raul I do like the idea of a vehicle specific kit, Mister B I take your point I need to get the van up in the air on to axle stands and get underneath it to check out available space etc, Two on tour I have welding gear so to make up a suitable mount Is not a problem if it means extra piece of mind re ground clearance gains etc, and thank you for the photos, ? Where you have the two rectangular plates on to the chassis were / are the female threads already in the chassis rail ?

2GB Racing I made my brackets from 50mm x 6mm cold rolled steel bar which are bolted to the chassis cross members via 10mm steel rivnuts that I fitted to the chassis cross members.
I made the brackets so the gas tank is about 2.5 inches above the bottom of the exhaust silencer box so the exhaust silencer box would have to take a hell of a clobbering before there is any chance of the tank getting hit.
I also sprayed the gas tank with several layers of a rubberised anti stone chip paint to give it protection from road debris being thrown up at it.

I can’t remember the definite measurement but Chris at Autogas 2000 mentioned there has to be a certain measurement of ground clearance to the cylinder. I half remember something like 165mm. This might have a bearing on what size cylinder you can have.

Two on tour would you be so kind as to let me have the dimensions for your 36lt tank if you have them to hand without crawling under your van to measure etc

2GB Racing here a link to the tank I used, scroll down the page for the dimensions and tank specs.

Excellent thank you I will have a measure up for available space.

Hi Paul just a question please, I take it your lpg tank is transverse and in the section aft of silencer section ? Just measured mine up and 230 dia x 1014 length tank is tight but with moving sink drain flex a few mm and changing a lump of angle iron used as a penny washer load spreader and carefull fabrication of hanging brackets, also using silencer hanging mounting points with 10 mm rivnuts it should fit

Yup, but one thing you have to take into consideration when positioning the tank is that you have to have enough clearance to the cross member to open and remove the cover on the valve.

Good point yes thank you, could have been a school boy error there, my handbrake mechanism is to rear of this section so would require the tank as far forward as possible, have repositioned the sink drain pipe and a couple of cables and trimmed down the lump of angle iron for a speeder plate looking more likely now.
