i have a 2021 weinsberg 650 meg a class, made by the knaus mob and similar to the knaus of the same numbers, during a cold spell while the van was on hook up i noticed the floor was slightly warm and my electricity bill climbed significantly, i suspect some form of underfloor heating. it was not spec,d from new, but then not all features it has are. how do i track this down, if it has underfloor heating or not. as a for instance if you order from new ( radio ready) its extra money, but the van arrives with this regardless, are they cute at charging for extras that are fitted anyway with a one size fits all ideology. sorry if i appear thick but i am not very digital or eletrical minded

I would be very suprised if it was electric underfloor heating, I have never heard of that fitted to a Motorhome. We have underfloor heating but it is part of the Alde wet heating, basically liquid pipes running inside the floor.
In terms of fitting equipment and charging for extras but building to a standard spec. I have no idea about your van but it is an approach which is being adopted by car manufacturers, but in a slightly different form. A few now build to a standard specification with all the bells and whistles fitted as standard, one build model. However, none of the features are activated but for a monthly cost you can have the dealer activate that feature. So if you want heated seats for example you pay a monthly fee for them to activate the feature and you pay the monthly cost.

We have underfloor heating in our 2017 Rapido 10000DFH, it runs from a separate switch above the door, the lino type floor has a thin membrane built into it which heats up when switched on. It heats the part in the front of the van where the kitchen is and dining room over a certain area.
I know how it works as a few years ago we have some water coming in via the passenger rear wheel arches which caused them to replace the floor where i was lucky it was in my warranty period as they said it was 100 hours just in labour. I took some pictures of the actual lino with the membrane on the back of it, its super thin.

Since having it fixed i stopped using underfloor heating as i just didnt want to go through the hassle of glue seaping out each time i used it where i think it was still curing or they just used too much.

We have an Electric Heated Floor in our Rapido.
It is operated by a switch close to the control panel and Blown Air Truma Heating Display.

I stand corrected, obviously you can get electric underfloor heating. However, seems a bit pointless if you need hookup

Westfalia Columbus has water/ coolant based heating working of the diesel heater, with control above the door. So nice paddling across it to make my morning cuppa. Better than at home where I have to sit on a speicific spot on my bed where the pipes pass across the room.
