Hi again.....just us :hugs:

still doing our research for our big adventure next year, (going to be giving up with the rat race and going full time, even though we have never done this before :wasntme: ) so wondering if anyone can suggest motor-homes that have a rear u shaped lounge with storage under, with the door opening to the storage from the outside?
As the ones we have seen don't have this type of storage, so we wondering where we would store our Braai (BBQ) and outdoor chairs etc?

We will be going to the Peterborough show next month....yippie cant wait, so see what't about :dance2:

Yes, the Hymer Duomobil - the largest of the models has a rear lounge and a big garage.

Depending on your budget there are quite a few now with U-shaped lounge. We have a Frankia i740 Plus - you could definitely comfortably full-time in it, however it's a bit of an expensive beast. SMC Newark are the only Frankia dealer in the UK. Also you could look at the Hymer B 534 Duomobil - I think Travelworld have stock.

We were full-time for three years and you need tons of storage and big payload..

I would suggest a garage model with transverse double bed .. such as the Hymer B644 G we now have.. at 7mts, long, huge garage and payload of 1000kg

A garage gives you an excellent place to store bikes that are likely to get nicked from a rack plus all the other camping paraphernalia you need , BBQ etc

In my view a decent bed is paramount when full-time, having a jigsaw to make up every night with seat cushions does't make a great bed.

whatever you buy good luck

I agree 100% with @scotjimland point about doing the jigsaw with cushions to make a bed.
Our first van was a PVC where we had to pull the seats together and then lay out the cushions to make a bed. After our first, long trip we decided that a fixed bed was a must for extended touring. After having to make the bed 100 nights in a row and then having to put all the bedding away in the morning we Quickly changed to an A class with a fixed bed. It also had a proper mattress which was much more comfortable into the bargain.
You can put up with minor inconvenience and discomfort for a night or two, but not for extended touring.

With a fixed bed you also need less storage too - as you don’t need to put away the bedding/pillows etc.

Another vote for this model. The one with the front end that can make a permanent bed at the front with a bathroom and leaves the rear of the van as a big rear lounge is a novel concept. Also loads of storage as you will need it. Big garage with loads of space, we were tempted but the used one we saw was £89k and that was a 15 model with the new one being £102k. Decided it wasn't quite right for us but a smashing novel van IMO

If you find a van you like, it is a pretty simple job to put in your own outside doors, there are firms also that do it, so don't be put off by no doors if you find an otherwise perfect van(y)

Sorry to gatecrash but do you have the names of these firms who would make amendments? I’m in the north east and struggling to find anyone who does alternations to Motorhomes. Thank you. :)

Hi, We have a Hymer Duomobil 634 which has a large garage and a U shaped lounge. They have one at Travelworld at the moment as I was there this week getting our 2 year service. It is an ideal van for living in.
