Are there any discount codes around for tyres?
Any recommendations for manufactures or fitters?

Just had 4 of these fitted to the car and with discount, from Halfords who’ll fit them on your drive, work etc

And 4 of these on the van, but no discount at the time, again Halfords and fitted at the storage yard.

Buy the best you can afford, check load ratings, date codes and tyre type;m&s winter all season etc check reviews online, are you looking to do big distancies, hot or cold climates? Remember your tyres are the only point of contact with the road on your valuable pride and joy!!!!!

Wise words, not massive distances about 5k a year and uk and warmer climates
Load rating is where I am finding an issue
Currently 116/118 but can’t find any above 113/115 anywhere

The Michelin Agilis I changed had been on for 10 years and apart from the wear on the tread, were in excellent condition with no issues or damage or cracks. I paid for the best at the time and certainly got my monies worth.

I‘m hoping the same for the new ones fitted.

From the Michelin website, they do a number of higher load tyres.

Interesting.
Local branch of National (part of Halfords I understand) didn't list any tyres on the web search.
Halfords listed van tyres but not Camping tyres for our 215/70 R15.
Perhaps they only show tyres stocked locally?

Tyres that may look ok that are old ; over 5 years old are often hardened by sun and pollution, when pushed they will show weakness often starting by delaminating causing vibrations this is usually before the tread plies depart from the sidewall or underlying tyre carcass, once the heat build up is sufficient the tyre will start to deform, due to heat in different layers if caught soon enough disaster can be averted but often people don’t notice small changes in handing then the structure starts to disintegrat, usually with very expensive results.

I ended up calling them as the newer tyres weren’t in stock, they had the wrong pictures up (which the website stated) so called to ensure that they had the correct ones for me.

Think they go and collect them from whatever output source they use, as I had to cancel my first order and then get them fitted a week later. On the day the fitter told me that he’d been and picked them up. When I mentioned that I had to delay last weeks fitting, he said that would explain why they had an identical set in the place they stored their vans.

im afriaid halfrauds, Kwik fit and the like are too eager to upsell or baffle the lesser minded sheep that flock to there glitzy websites and depots, bamboozling the uninformed majority with useless often wrong or inappropriate advice or recommendations,I buy my car, motorhome and 44t Hgv tyres from respected independent suppliers often deal with same staff, with real experience not some smarmy oik who’s on commission.

I had continental van contact 4 season load 121/119 fitted by Tyres on the drive (halfords). Brilliant service, fitter showed me they were a matched set with a build code in the last month before he started.
