Hi guys, what tyres are you running on your Elengances, got Mich camping tyres at the moment but need replacing .

After reading ad infinitum on this very topic, the only real answer is you pays your money and takes your choice. For some tyres last longer, while others are quieter, yet others have better grip in the wet or for high speed. The bottom line is, there is no perfect tyre. The two most popular with motorhome builders are Continental Camper and Michelin, both in the premium price range which I doubt the constructors were required to pay.
On another forum the consensus seemed to be to consider whether in five years you did enough mileage to wear the tyre out for the five year replacement schedule. If the tyre was going to outlast this period, buy cheaper.

Make sure you have a shuftie on Ebay as you can often get good deals on tyres - we bought some recently (Vanco four Season 2 M&S) which usually cost £150+, got 3 new ones for £105 each delivered, cost us £30 to have them all fitted, we also got another one much cheaper than that beforehand which has been part-used with only a small amount of tread wear.

I think you need to decide if you intend to visit europe in winter. If so some coutries insist you have the 3pmsf ( 3 peak mountain snowflake) symbol. Tyres such as conti four season 2 do have this symbol, others are available. You can run them all year round.
Otherwise make sure load rating is adequate.

I run Kleber Transalp 2 winter tyres on my elegance all year. Quiet, good wear rate, and good in the wet. Sometimes pays to look outside the main brands.

I use Michelin Alpin on My Sprinter and Motorhome. I have used them since 2009. Very highly recommended.

I do not rate "Camper" Specific tyres. Indeed, the original Michelin Camper XC tyre had shockingly poor grip.

If you don't intend to climb snowy mountains, consider at least a good tyre with M+S rating.

Only need a summer tyre as I have a set of winter wheels and tyres already ( we tend to go skiing every Christmas ).

For interest I have just ordered a pair of Continental Vanco Camper tyres for fitting next week. On checking my records they have done 40k miles. They started life on the rear of the van and then were moved to the front. There is still 3mm of tread left but given the age of the tyre I must change them.

I think I still have the original tyres on mine!
It's a 2007! Loads of tread left on them.
(That should get a few of you going!)
