Going over to Spain & Portugal shortly.
Have not used them previously but wondered what people thought of using Tyre Protectors when parking their MH on sites.
Will be mainly Touring not staying in one place.

If you're parked in the same spot in Benidorm for 3 months over summer, and your van only does a couple of thousand miles a year, then tyre protectors they might be worth it as you'll get a couple more years out of the tyres.

I suspect that if you're moving frequently and you tour a fair bit, the marginal gains won't be worth anything when the tyres are worn in 5-7 years anyway.

If you are stationary for any length of time, in a sunny climate, then tyre-covers are a worthwhile investment, as constant exposure to UV is very damaging to rubber compounds.

I think Hindermann do a reflective set of covers for about £20.

A fact that is less well known, perhaps, with regard to tyre-rubber compounds, is that the molecular structure of these rubber compounds is infused with chemical wax elements that are designed to work with the flexing and compressing motions that occur within the tyre structure during everyday use. If vehicles are stationary for long periods of time, then these chemical elements stop functioning, and the tyres degrade more rapidly.

These chaps explain it better than I have,.

One pays one’s money and one takes one’s chance with regard to tyre covers.

I was thinking of covering my OSR as it sits in the sun.
In the UK, at home.

Yes cover them if you are stood up and in the sun. Tyres ain’t cheap and if you can get some more time with them it’s good.👍

Don’t think it matters what you use (bits of fabric, bin liners or posh made to measure)
The main thing is to keep the sun off your tyres

Never seen a car in southern Spain with tyre covers and they are there all year round. Just like I've never seen a car with its wipers sticking out. 🤭

I have them on my van at home and take a couple of old lightweight ones when travelling to use if stopped for several days.

But presumably they are used regularly?
