i have autotrail 696g 2003 can you help with pressures they are 46psi front and 50osi rear at moment yet says 79.5 on the van which is right have just bought it

If you can give the make and size of the tyres it might help folk find an answer. But with some makes there are no recommendations other than the generic advice in the vehicle handbook or sticker on the vehicle. With Continental you can work out exact pressures but you need to measure the axle loadings.

Use Sheddys link above but enter the plated axle weights rather than trying to find a weighbridge.
If the rides a bit harsh drop the pressures a few pounds at a time til it feels right.

We were advised to put 79.5 all round on our van, despite there being a sticker on the passenger door frame, saying 79.5 rear and 55 psi front. When we went to Italy last year 79.5 all round nearly shook loose my fillings!
So, this year we’ve come to France with the rear at 79.5 and front at 55and the difference is amazing. Much softer ride and less fatiguing.
I’m aware that the right way is to weigh each axle and then look at the chart for your brand and size of tyre but our plan seems to work and to be in line with van maker, Bailey.

If your tyre pressures are too low, the tyres can overheat, which can result in damage and they wear more quickly. The tools mentioned in earlier replies is good advice
