I have been asked if anyone has had this problem for a friend of mine. Make unknown but a 73 reg model motorhome. It falls off whichever way she opens it. Once shut i assume the magnet strip holds it in place.

Sorry I can't help but whenever I see these 2way fridge doors I always think this is the likely outcome
Hope your friend can get it sorted 👍

We squirted some silicone into the door mechanism, top and bottom to help the bit that slides from side to side, but ours was OK on one side.

If neither side works I would check the lower part of the fridge door frame hasn't dropped through poor support underneath the fridge, so the "higepins" are not engaging properly - There was one converter/manufacturer I read somewhere that supplied some fix for their products to cure the problem.

I don't know how many have two way doors but our Dometic 10 series does, there are a some little pins on each side that tells the other side that that one side is open so it can't/shouldn't (does any of that make sense) it sounds like the door isn't closing tight enough to lock in and depress the pins.

You have to make sure the door is fully closed at both the top and the bottom every time it is shut. Just pushing only on the top will likely leave the bottom unlocked? Push both top and bottom and heat it clock, then it will operate correctly.. it's a knack that you have to get used to with this door mechanism...

Andrew Ditton complained of this on his YouTube review of the hymer 790 a while back.

Yeah the silicone helped with that now clicks with a gentle push and we had a tin handy for spraying the cassette!

Not that I would say anyone in the van would ever have forgotten the advice of course......

They are a pain in the *rse. It seems it needs taking off completely and follow the Dometic instructions or You Tube and refit. The four pins have to be held in (Two at the top and two at the bottom) by strong tape. Then, if memory serves me correctly, offer door up to casing and remove tape one side at a time. Not the best explanation but the Dometic instructions do explain.
