Hi. Is it possible to hook up two 7kg calor bottles to one regulator and use each bottle in turn. It's a real pain in the arse when the gas runs out and I have to change a bottle in the dark and almost ineviabable rain. If I could just turn the empty off and the full one on it would save a lot of hassle.

Cheers

You can use it either way - I have it set to one side so that I know when one bottle is empty, then simply switch it over remembering to look for a fill point soon after !

I’ve got a regulator on each cylinder, pipes go to a tee piece and then onto supply pipe. Suit me, nice and simple.

You just need a T Piece before the regulator and connect your two cylinders up to it. Turn one off and turn the other on. Nice and simple. Even in the rain.

With that arrangement would you not have to turn the full bottle off in order to disconnect the empty bottle?

I have a T piece with a manual directional valve incorporated, can't remember where I got it now though!

That seems to be the way to go.

Cheers

This is the correct way to do it..

Clesse manual changeover valve..

this is a top quality regulator, far more reliable than the Truma

That's the one I have fitted to the campervan, on the 5'er I sourced a T piece with the manual change over, it does not have a fixed bulkhead regulator, and fitted it with a few adaptors.

Useful topic...... I’m just getting bits together to install an Alugas refillable alongside a back-up Calor. I like the twin feed auto change regulator.

I have mine Teed together with a French and English regulator.
Best of both worlds?
(The other regulator is not used now.)

I appreciate you are not looking for an auto change unit but if you change your mind I have an unused Cavagna auto / manual combined regulator and changeover valve sitting in my garage looking for a new home. Unit is much the same as @DigglyDog suggested above.

The thing that bothers me about those T pieces is if you disconnect the empty bottle without turning off the one in use surely you will have high pressure gas issuing from the disconnected pipe.

No because they have a oneway valve in them.

“Direct to Bulkhead regulator Tee piece with built in non return W20 Male x W20 Male x W20 Female fittings.”

Also why would you disconnect a bottle from a refillable gas system?

Aagh....I see, the OP was not referring to a refillable system and would need to disconnect but the non return valve would make it safe, I think:).........still prefer one with a changeover valve though.

That is good of you but looking at it I think it byond my competence to fit a device like this.
