Tugging A TOAD

Have got ourselves a TOAD ,
Q. When booking sites do you inform them that you are bringing a car or just roll up.
Asking other TOAD tuggers.

i dont have a TOAD but i do know it depends on the site, some charge motorhomers for a car in addition to the motorhome. i believe CMC sites no problem not sure about CCC sites as they want to know the area you wish to occupy Van and awnin etc.

Some ask me on the booking what if anything is being brought like a car.

Just to let you know that if you attend a Fun rally, or a Warners show camping with Fun, you are more than likely to have to park it away from the van unless needed for disability reasons. If the latter is the case, it is helpful to marshals if you are let them, or the rally organiser know so suitable spaces can be held for you.

When booking sites I always mention that I am towing a small car. I have never paid any extra. People with caravan’s don’t pay for their car, the way I see it is I have a caravan and tow a car.

The sites which charge extra for towing a car.....do they also charge caravaners for using a car?
No, I thought not.
I wouldn't go to such sites on principle.

I took a toad with me for 10 years and never announced it in advance and never paid extra for it. One or two sites said £x for an extra car and if I had been challenged I would have argued that it was not an extra car but the only car. Caravans and car are assumed to share a pitch so why not motorhome and car?

We were never charged extra over a period of many years although I have seen when searching that a few sites do.

I tow a car on a trailer, I just turn up at sites, a few times I've been asked to leave car and trailer(mounted or off trailer) in the carpark or a seperate area but usually thats because the pitches are smaller or the pitch access is tignt.
Can't ever remember being charged extra for it.

Can't ever remember being charged extra for itUsed many aires in Europe without problem although I do usually check on google earth to see how big the camping area is first and give the smaller ones a miss.

I've always viewed this paying extra for this that and the washing line to be a bit of a con, I pay for a pitch and as long as I'm inside it's boundary - why should I be charged more if I stick my awning out or similar
