hi everyone i need some advice ,,
i have 2003 ducato it has truma blow heater i think c model ,, problem starts after gas tank fitted ,, after fitted gas tank we didnt use heater , yes fridge is ok and owen/cooker is ok but when we tried to turn the heater and we tried few time we heard bang noise and outer plastic cover broke i chat with gasman he said sound like it has air lock you need to try and leave 10 mins and try again, i did car is on ehu when i turn the heater amber light straight on ( i think it shows it is on ehu) heater try to fire up but it is making rattle can noise and after 10 sec red light is coming,, what you think guys about this problem ... thank you

The amber light shows the boiler is on and will show up wether on gas or electric. Out of the bottom of the boiler there should be a black corrugate pipe about 3” dia. This goes to the external vent. The connection at the exit doesn’t need to be tight, it needs to draw air in and allow exhaust out (it’s double skinned) . Check its not blocked in any way also check the outside vent and ensure that’s not blocked, even the slightest thing can starve air flow into and out of the boiler.

We had a similar problem just a couple of days ago when firing up the boiler after two/three months lay up.

Pull pulled the gas through to the cooker and let the rings burn for 10-15 seconds and then repeatedly tried the boiler. We heard it click as it tried to fire but after 10 seconds or so the light would go red.

Perseverance paid off after 6-8 attempts the boiler fired and off we went.

Conclusion, (guess) the gas feed pipe was full of air and the repeated attempts drew through the gas until it ignited.

Try switching the fan to Boost, if it runs at full speed the fan is OK. In our van the never runs very fast on the Eco setting unless the van is very cold.

Not sure if it's the same model as our boiler (Truma 4e) but the fan on the side of ours does get clogged up with dust / muck and if left long enough will give a flashing light error code on the circuit board.:crying:

If it is the same, you need to remove the fan cover (# 10 on the attached - it's just a push fit) and carefully insert a small brush (I use a 1/2" paint brush) and brush out the fan wheel (#170 on the attached - you can manually turn the wheel with the brush if you want).

After cleaning, reattach the fan cover.

As Lenny HB says ours doesn't spin at a great rate of knots (well, very occasionality it will when first starting up and sounds like a jet engine!

If it's not the same model wonder if your model will have similar?
