When I plum my motorhome in to 240v my lights, waterpump and electric fire won't work.

My fridge work and also my water heater switch as the red light comes on.

I've got power to my extractor fan but it's showing and error so won't work.

Just don't know what to do, help

Make, model and year might help.

Do you have a master 12v on/off switch? Does the 12v work when not on mains?

Are you saying your lights, water pump and electric fire work when you are not plugged in?

When I'm plugged in to the mains its not working.

I need new leisure batteries as they haven't had charge for a long time but this shouldn't affect when I'm plugged in should it.

Dead batteries may well trip out the charger, which is what would power 12v from the mains hook up

It's a 1997 fiat ducato autotrail cheyanne.

I do and when I switch it nothing happens its got a little pin that normally flicks up but it doesn't move.

My plug sockets work like normal though and my fridge.

If the leisure batteries are completely goosed they will overload the charger and it's probably shut down , if you are lucky it won't have blown it.

So my leisure batteries need to have charge in them no matter what even if I'm plugged in?

Basically yes. Do you have a multimeter? Put that across the battery and check the voltage. If the charger is working it will be about 13v. If not, it could be as low as 0v if the battery is knackered.
The charger supplies the 12v to the battery. It may be that that is also faulty. With a multimeter you can at least start tracking the faults.

if the battery is really low it will look like a dead short to the charger. Depends which charger was fitted, but some will shut down to protect the charger and others blow the fuse in the charger.

put your van battery in place of the leisure battery and then plug in assuming van battery is working
