We are booked to Bilbao 20 April and are looking to travel to Burgos, Salamanca, Badajoz and then either across into Portugal maybe around Lisbon and up to Galicia. It is our first time in Spain/Portugal usually spend our time in France. So we have 7 weeks lucky us!! Has anyone got any recommendations re campsites, weather etc etc.

Any info much appreciated.

Northern Spain is fantastic and very different to the costas. The buildings in Burgos and Salamanca are stunning, both cities being along Camino routes. Portugal is different again and Galicia is 'green Spain', so you know what that means - it does rain - but not necessarily all the time. There are a few camperstops cropping up now in the North and wild camping there and in Portugal is no problem if that is what you want to do. Otherwise camp sites are open near both Burgos and Salamanca, with other sites in between and in Portugal and near Santago de Compostela and the North coast.

Enjoy your trip.

Need to do a bit of research before you go,lots of sites not open then.We find the Alan Rogers book handy.Link Removed
