Hi

In few weeks time we’ll be travelling to and France with our two with a EU pet passport

It’s the first time that we’ll be travelling with the pet passport so double checking everything before the trip to make sure that we are fully prepared 😀

So when entering France (with Irish ferries Dover-Calais) all we need its just the pet passport showing the up do date rabies vaccination?

Coming back into the UK we also need a dewormer which has to be administered by a VET 24-120 hours BEFORE THE DEPARTURE FROM CALAIS?

Just to make sure that it’s done all correctly what part of the EU passport does the vet need to fill in and do they just need to put signature down on ut or stamp etc?

Many thanks in advance

That's about it.
The vet fills in the section of the passport, stamps, signs and dates with time that the worming treatment has been carried out.
They adhere strictly to the time of treatment, I got to the desk 23 hours 50 minutes after worming treatment and was sent to the back of the queue until 24 hours ticked up 🤷‍♂️

could anyone point point out what section of the passport does the vet need to fill & sign for the worming?

Assuming the rabies vaccination in pet passport is valid and was administered by an EU vet not a Uk vet.
Then all is well.

It's the bit which says (spelling alert): "Anti-echinococcus". If you use a vet near a port they will know what to do but do check they have added the time. We got caught out when the vet only put the date in. We winged it at check-in by showing on my banking app when we paid but it was touch and go for a while. :)

This one,the 'Anti Echinococcus' page

Most EU vets will also automatically fill in the fitness for travel page but that is not a requirement to enter the UK.
I would suggest asking the vet to desist from completing the Clinical Examination section. There are usually around half the number of Clinical Examination spaces in a Pet Passport as Worming spaces. If you get a health check done every time you get worming done, you will need a new Pet Passport sooner. By all means let them carry out a health check if they want to, but they do not need to enter it in the Pet Passport.

Can anyone confirm if an up-to-date signature in the Clinical Exam section is required for any countries in the EU?

My dog's passport only has the first entry completed (when we initially got the passport in Belgium) and we've been back over to France a couple times since (on Dover-Calais route) with no issues.

It is not required unless you are flying and the airline requests it, or if your dog is travelling with a pet courier and they request it.
