Traveling by air to Turkey

Hi all we have been in the Schengen zone for 90 days from Feb 23rd until May the 23rd. Which was exactly 90 days. The earliest we could return to France will be the 22 second of Augeas. Could we in the meantime fly to Turkey say next week for 7 days. Reading up it appears Turkey is neither in the EU or the Schengen zone.
