Hi
Can any one please advise me on driving conditions to Italy from uk in begining march . We are hoping to tour the lakes and further south for month of March . Is there usually snow there still and crossing into Italy if so we will postpone untill April .
Thanks

Merry Xmas all

It's a bit like saying what's the British weather like at that time 🙂

The temperatures usually start to improve in March but nights are still cold.
There's often rain & there can, of course, be some snow if temperatures dip

We went there for about 6 weeks some years ago, leaving home early March. Went via Belgium, Northern France and into Switzerland at Basle. We drove through Switzerland in a day and crossed into Italy at Como. Much cheaper and quicker than using a lot of French toll roads and crossing into Italy on one of the tunnels.

Snow was on the side of the roads but roads themselves were clear. No snow South of Milan.

Headed down on the West Coast as far as Sorrento, then crossed to the Adriatic coast heading North and to home.

Lots to see on the West Coast. The Cinque Terre, Pisa, Florence, Sienna, Rome, The Vatican, Pompei, Naples, Capri, and Solerno.

The Adriatic side was not so good. Always wanted to see Rimini but disappointed because it was full of rude arrogant Russian tourists. San Marino was OK, but the highlight was the Enzo Ferrari museum in Modena and the Maranello factory visit.

😂 I must admit I thought same myself not far enough south to start seeing more stable weather .
Thanks

Check when you need winter tyres we went through Switzerland in mid April and missed needing them by 1 day and we still had a lot of snow on the ground.
