Hi, I was wondering if anyone had taken a grandchild for part of their trip and had managed to arrange travel insurance for them. I have multi trip insurance for ourselves and LV wanted £100 to add him to our policy even though he was only with us for 6 days. They suggested an additional single trip policy for myself with the grandson on the policy but that would have been £106 for a basic policy.

That seems very excessive for a healthy child.
How much for his own policy ?
I think I'd take a chance on having non for six days.
Do children have GHIC cards?

Child GHIC. yes but needs to be applied for by a parent.

We have taken 2 of our grandkids away many many times, never an issue with insurance. Their mom took out cover and had them on the policy. Usually it was an annual policy as we had a place in Spain so went out often. We double checked they were able to travel separately and the policy were never expensive.

He's too young for his own policy but I'll make sure he has a Child GHIC. His father is checking his policy to see if he's covered when he's not there
