Hi we have 3 spaniels and want to take them in our Autotrail frontier navajo.
Has anyone taken dogs and if so how did you transport them, without seat fixings.
Thank you.
Two big comfy dog beds on the floor behind the cab seats. Ours have travelled in motorhomes and cars since they were both 8 weeks and settle immediately we get in
Our two 10kg boys lay on deg beds on the ‘van floor behind the front seats, the other two 5kg girls lay in a dog basket on Jac’s knee on the passenger seat, secured by seat-belt attachment…..
I guess it depends how ‘active’ they are when travelling……?
We have a springer spaniel and an Autocruise Alto van conversion. Our dog travels in a foldable crate behind the drivers seat (under the rear table) where he’s quite content. On arrival at a site, the crate is folded away (or sometimes put outside) and replaced under the table by his bed.
He settles more easily in the van than just about anywhere else, so seems to work for him!
(He’s happier than he looks in these photos I promise )
We harnessed our Boxer Walter and clipped to fixed table leg via a fall arrest carabiner and 2 tonne rated short webbing strop. After previously attempted to remove the table leg, and after having removed the 5 holding down bolts and it still wouldn’t budge, I gave up, seems it would suffice as an anchorage in any survivable accident anyway.
We have seat belt attachments which clip onto their harness and through our seat belts, one each and a big soft cushion in front of them on the dash as an extra precaution.
