Next door there is a Pilote Transit pvc, but on a Transit Trail base. Cross climate tyres and a fixable diff seems the ideal combination for Europe to me. Especially towing. No need for full 4*4 in western Europe (or at least anywhere I'd want to take a van), but enough to get away from soft mud or sand. In other words great for the UK, if you don't only go where you have an (ugly) hardstanding booked. I know Pilote list these trail based options with a glassfibre box, but I'm more into the pvc category. Apparently Pilote have only produced these in limited numbers. If, for example, the Swift Trekker came Trail based then it would be less <in Scots>, 'all fur coat and Na knickers'. I guess the smaller convertors would be happy to base on a Trail as I don't see the conversion being affected.

My only worry with the Transit is all the talk of 'wet belts' and reliability. OTH I see they come third in the Parkers fleet reliability review so not sure what to read into that. https://www.parkers.co.uk/vans-pickups/best/most-reliable-vans/

"Wet belts", IMO, are quite possibly thee stupidest idea I've ever come across.

Cheers

I watch 'salvage rebuildsUK' & they bought a job lot of pick ups on transits. low mileage ish , all had had new turbos plus the manifolds had been butchered to make them fit as the studs snap.
