Just had a phone call from Tracker that the battery in the unit fitted by the dealer is below standard and the unit will shortly fail. I have been offered Tracker Nano as a more cost effective solution does anyone have any experience of this unit?
Is there another unit that will fulfil the need of insurance companies, any help to clear the fog in my brain appreciated.

Can anyone help John with his question about Tracker Nano?

I can’t be of much help but is this Nano Tracker Thatcham approved? JohnFX what was the original tracker fitted by the dealer? If it were me I would be checking with the dealer and original supplier whether the battery could be replaced. I would also check with my insurance company that they were happy with the new device which appears to be a self powered self install device.

I do think that Pausim speaks wisely.
When insuring my new (to me )Nuevo I found that due to not having a tracker the cost was ridiculous, until that is I came across Grove & Dean brokers, they explained why the insurance company wanted a tracker and then informed me that when taking out their MH policy with LV they would supply a tracker FREE.:inlove:
The insurance cost beat the competitors by hundreds of pounds and when I received the tracker it weas a simple job of siting the same and then registering on line, whole job took less than 30 minutes.

I have both a Scorpion tracker and a Nano (supplied free by Grove & Dean). The Scorpion is excellent, with a very clear and accurate online portal showing every journey and speeds etc. The Nano is a simple activate when contacting them to report it stolen type unit, but handy to have as it is tiny and battery operated, so can be tucked away anywhere. Good to have if the Scorpion one is found and disabled.

We use "Outsmart the thief" on the van which has been excellent but also use a Winnes GPS tracker for the trailer, which again works very well. It can also be moved from vehicle to vehicle, but not necessarily approved for insurance.

I used to use a steering wheel lock before I read an article, I think on here, that a good idea was to turn the drivers seat around to face the habitation area, then run a small but sturdy chain and padlock to the the bed and seat.
That would give the thief a problem unless they remembered to brin the bolt cutters.
If needed I will send a photo.
I still use the factory fitted immobiliser, the alarm system and a tracker, if they nick it now I will be red faced:mad:
Have a nice weekend MH funster.

I use a cheap 'diy' (Carlock) tracker from amazon that simply connects to either cab or hab battery, and is linked to an app on my phone. I know it's easy to disconnect it, but if you hide it well enough it'll give you time. I don't pay for all the bells & whistles (driving style/battery status etc etc) and it costs around £100 per year subscription for the sim card. So far it's not given me any problems.
I've also got a Cobra alarm pre fitted, plus a clutch fork and steering wheel lock, so hopefully any thief will pass on to an easier prey.

Trackers by tracker are checked every 5 years, a tracker retrieve does not have a replaceable battery and needs to be replaced. It sounds like you may have a Retrieve, as they say you get for that you pay for which is why there are options.

This is the nano is a Thatcham approved device and can be brought from Halfords and could be viewed as an entry level tracker

  • GPS based vehicle and asset tracker
  • Self-powered by built-in power source
  • Discrete matchbox sized device
  • 2 year battery life
  • Daily GPS location updates
  • Easily self-installed on vehicles or non-powered assets
  • Access to Tracker Touch app
  • Nationwide support from all UK police forces
  • 24/7 monitoring via Secure Operating Centre
  • Secured by Design Accredited
  • Thatcham S7 Accredited

Set up and registration

I use a AT4 tacker, wakes up every 6 hours then back to DEEP SLEEP mode, battery @ 65% after 25 months

in deep-sleep mode uses no battery power at all.

Amazon product ASIN B077NB5RRK
Great bit kit, works from inside panel, have seen it report from underground car-park.

also have OBD unit that reports live every 60 seconds.

can provide info in the OBD if anyone needs?

if I am not allowed to mention the AT4 brand ? Please remove post

Thanks
