Hi,
Wondering if my Fiat Ducati Feb 2016 tyres have to fitted ?
I think they should have had from new but the valves look to be ordinary.
See photos.
Any advice appreciated.
Happy Jack.

Just put 4 new TPMS valves from schrader into my daughter’s tyres and they are exactly like normal rubber tyre vales, though you can get the steel bolted types as well,
Any tyre depot will do a quick scan to see if they are active and Shows battery condition and frequency they are on, should be 433 mhz for Europe

What happens if they are not active? Just thinking I could do without if necessary. I'm old school, check tyre press on a regular basis.

Yes but unlikely, if over 5 years the batteries can give up the ghost so get constant warnings, and if people can’t be bothered to replace the TPMS sensor, then they might disable the monitoring unit,
Just take it too a decent tyre depot and it will take seconds to interrogate the Valve one way or the other,

Will do when I'm ready (soon) for new wheels/tyres.
Van is Feb 2016 so is 7 and a bit years old.

Not sure, I know if the light stays on it is, but I might be corrected.
Never noticed it until now. Had the van 3 years now and been through 2 MOTs, either the light has always been unlit or bulb has popped a long time ago or at some time between when I got it and now.
As I say, first time noticed it not lit !!!

Our 2016 Fiat Ducato (A Class) doesn’t have TPS.
We have since fitted a Tyrepal set up which is great.
Would mine still have the warning light on the dashboard and as part of standard build but not in use perhaps?

many many years! since I was a kid
The dashboard will have the light fitted regardless of TPMS units in the wheels as it is an optional extra. It is just switched off in the software for your van. Would be ridiculous to make different dashboards for each option

Yes, I alluded to that in an earlier post. Did think standard build would have all the possibilities but not all in use. Depends on the spec.

You get so may lights come on at the start, I don't pay them much attention just so long as they all go out
Yes, I did exactly the same for the last 2 years with the van but now that I'm getting ready for new wheels/tyres I would like to know. Will be going to a local wheel and tyre specialist soon and will get them to check but I'm beginning to believe that my van hasn't got tps.

Many options can be switched on/off with multiecuscan via the OBD port

One other thought, this time on tyres.
We do 4K miles each year in the van.
Think I've read in various post that 4 years is approx right for renewing tyres!
That would be 16K miles for mine.
Would definitely leave them longer if still plenty tread left.
Happy Jack.

As long as no signs of cracking as that's usually the reason people change them, mine were starting to crack with 8500miles done with 5-6mm tread but had a date stamp of 2018 on a 69 plate so always check date stamp, so mine were on the van from new:unsure::unsure:

Yes, will do that.
What typical date will there be on new tyres!
Happy Jack.
