Taking a leisurely trawl through the manual for the Ducato (22 plate) and I came across this statement; "Vehicles with AT9 automatic transmission cannot be towed". As my Burstner has the 9 speed auto, what an earth do I do if I get stuck in the mud?

I think you will be OK as it is just for a few yards and the engine would be running keeping the gearbox oil pump running. It is towing on the road that causes problems the gearbox would overheat without the engine running.

Phew! That's a relief. Thought I had wasted money on a heavy duty tow strap for no reason! Thanks!

I did 25 years as a automatic transmission specialist and the reason they say they cannot be towed is because the pump is not running, you can normally tow for a few miles by overfilling the gearbox, so the clutches have some fluid round them.
