Hi I’m towing a Suzuki celerio on an A Frame and I noticed the back lights were on when we were half way to where we’re going. I made sure all the lights were off and nothing else was on. The key was in and turned to the first position so that the steering wheel lock doesn’t come on. Now the battery has gone flat. I can’t work out how to get the back lights off when the key is in. Any advice would be appreciated. Will need to jump start it tomorrow. Hopefully it will start. Thanks in advance.

Do the rear lights not work from the tow car electrics? Nothing on the toad should be on if the ignition is just on the first click past off.

When you get it started see what happens when you are free of the towing car and then again when you hook up. That might give a clue.

When we had our Aygo toad we were told to make sure the radio was off even though it should not work on the first click. We got a spare ignition key cut but without the transponder so we could have the key in the car without the risk of someone nicking it.

Good luck, hope you sort it soon.

Thanks for your reply that could be the answer as the daylight running lights are on in the motorhome but we didn’t have any problem with the Corsa but I’ll take your advice and see what is like when the electrics aren’t connected to the motorhome.

If the lights are only on when connected to the van the car battery is isolated.
Tail, indicators and brake lights should all be powered from the van not the car, and can't flatten the car battery.

Our aygo wouldnt start after 6 hours being towed, the screen was off but didnt give the front and rear cameras a second thought, guess a small battery will only power them for so long.

Thanks that’s what I thought I’m at a loss unless there is something on in the car using the battery. Maybe it’s as simple as I just need a new battery. Thanks for your thoughts

I don’t have front and rear cameras but maybe something else is doing it. Thanks for your reply

Can’t help with lights/ flat battery but regarding the steering lock , have you tried to turn ignition key on and then off without removing the key, with my Peugeot 107 steering lock only comes on when key is removed.

When I used to tow our panda i had to put a bungee strap round the brake pedal and to the driver seat then push the seat back to keep the brake pedal up. Not sure how your set up works but maybe the pedal is going down when you brake In the van and not coming back up which in turn is keeping your brake lights on.

Yes we put a bungee cord as well. I thought about that but I believe the brake lights are operated through the motorhome electric and battery anyhow so not sure if that’s the problem. I always check the heat on the wheels when we stop to make sure brakes aren’t binding and they’ve always been cool. It’s definitely a head scratcher.

If you leave ignition key in first position, auxiliary, then somethings would be draini the battery.
so try the turning off but not removing key.
