How many of you have been charged extra on sites for your car when towing on an A frame , in 12 years of having an A frame (not using it all the time ) I have never been charged, this morning I made an inquiry about a site and it was £2 extra for my car,he told me hundreds of sites charge for cars with motorhomes

We wouldn’t pay extra for our tow car. To me, it’s the same as a car & caravan, and takes up approximately the same amount of space.

Nope, never and we tow a car everywhere. if I was you, I would ask what the difference between and Motorhome and tow car vs a caravan and car???
I did, he said it was for insurance purposes, at that point I gave up as he was clearly fobbing me off !

By the way this is the site https://furzefarmestate.co.uk

No us neither. As TheAleMan said. No difference to a car and caravan.

I had to pay extra for the car/trailer for my upcoming visit to Taunton at the end of this month so i am assuming its now going to be the norm moving forwards, didn't pay before so its a new policy. Its not a lot of money so didn't think anything of it but i have seen quite a few now charging.

Is that Cornish Farm. I saw on their website extras for added cars.

We were there last week with our toad. Didn’t have to pay for the car.

Whilst there a huge Range Rover arrived with an even huger Hobby caravan. Almost blocked out the sunlight😆

Bet he didn’t pay any extra for taking up so much space. As far as I look at it I am paying for a space, what I put on that space is down to me.

We were charged an extra €2 per day at Campsite Le Puits de l'Auture St. Palais-sur-Mer.
I argued the car/caravan and was told two engines and basically take it or leave it

We don't charge extra for a car on an A frame so long as it fits on the pitch without causing issues.

That’s what I assumed and the wardens didn’t ask. BTW, can’t fault both sets of wardens. Lovely people, came round for a chat every now and again and very welcoming. 👍👍👍

Some sites charge for EXTRA car ie car caravan and another car ( 3 units ) but a motorhome + tow car (2 units) doesn’t constitute an extra car.
I have never been charged for my tow car.

It is just a car & caravan just assembled differently

Top thread this. I just booked again for Old Oaks next year and they have a supplement of £17 for an extra car, which I selected.
After reading this, I just talked to them and they said right away that a motorhome towing a car is no different to a caravan and car, so no supplement needed. Immediate refund. Excellent.

Cheers.

No, never been charged. No different than car and caravan. Perhaps a motorhome, car and trailer would be different because that does take up extra space.
They also charge for the trailer that the car is on according to their website so thats £4 anight.

Yes it is, i am down that way having the metatrak sorted, i just assumed this was the norm now and for me its about convenience so as its not a lot of money i never thought anything more.

That depends on whether the car is removed. Either way if the trailer is taking up too much room I park the car on it.

Agree. Lovely site, well run if a little way out of town. £11 back in a taxi the other day😱 (there was a concert on in town so many their licence to rack up the charges.)

A couple of quid a night isn’t going to break the bank but I do tend to avoid sites that charge a load of extras even though you have paid for a pitch that, in my view, is your space to do with as you wish taking into account fire safety etc.

Still, can thoroughly recommend the site👍

It's one mile out of town!

When we were staying there we walked in and then walked back with a full load of shopping!

£11 for a taxi! they saw you coming!

We have family in Totnes so we are going to visit them whilst there hence why the need for a car. We night not even take the trailer now. We've stayed there before a few times over the years and always taken a car with us just so we can do what we want. All about convenience 👍
