I had a smashing start to 2025. No really! At 8:00 a.m. on 02/01/25 under cabinet kitchen lighting was flickering when I used the microwave. Both microwave and those lights function off a socket and adapter at the back of the microwave alcove. The 4 way adapter had worked loose and needed pushing fully home. I half pulled out the microwave but could not quite reach the adapter to push it home. So I turned and reached across the kitchen for a spatula or similar to extend my reach. That took all of 4 seconds but as I turned back the giant extremely heavy Ingenix microwave fell out of its alcove falling 1 metre and onto my toes!! I attempted repairs to the microwave that evening but it was goosed. I then spent the evening doing research and ordered a replacement off Amazon around midnight.

My loss has turned into a gain and I pass on my knowledge to you all. I replaced the circa 6 year old all-singing-all-dancing but poor performing save as a microwave Ingenix with a Tower T17133 AirWave Pro Oven 2-in-1 Microwave & Air Fryer.

Lots of units claim to combine both functions but in most cases it is marketing hype according to reviews but I can confirm the Tower is strong on both functions. I have a circa 5 litre Cosori Airfryer that I highly recommend except that it is a tad too small for foil ready meal containers and the like which often have to be butchered to fit. Irksome!

The defunct Ingenix was carefully chosen – very large with a drop down door, oven and grill etc, etc. but the operating system was unfathomable meaning that in reality I only used it as a microwave. Attempts to use it as an oven gave poor results and always required reference to the instructions to get it working.

The Tower is a delight to use with all controls being intuitive and the air fryer function works well including the staple test of oven chips! It was relatively costly but there was little point in paying less but not getting what I needed.

Ideally I was looking for a microwave with inverter plus air fryer but I had to give up on the inverter bit.

The stats from the book of words:

Microwave 1300-1400W

Air Fryer 1450-1500W

Capacity 26 litres

45 x 52 x 30 cms

Weight – circa 20kg at a guess.

This was an install in my home but I would certainly be interested in mounting this combo unit in a new MoHo if kitting it out with lithium and inverter rather than a gas oven. Hence this post. You will likely need an inverter of around 2000W to cope with the surges.

Hope that helps someone!
P.S. I lost a toenail but otherwise I am OK!
