Towed car won’t start, central locking dead and dipped lights won’t turn off (yes, off). What next

We’ve just arrived in the Lake District (brwaithwaite campsite) for a week. And we’ve toad our Hyundai i10 with the towbar2towcar unit we’ve had for 3 years

It was a 3 hour motorway journey.

On arrival the tow cars basically dead, central locking doesn't work, the starter motor doesn’t attempt to start (though I hear a click sound). All the light switches don’t work but I can’t turn off the side light or rear light.

We did a lights check after we hitched up at the start of the journey and everything worked correctly.

I’m guessing we left the key in the wrong position during the journey but do you think that would flatten the battery?

Any thoughts how I can safely force the car to turn off the lights?

Thanks

Disconnect battery. There must be some power left if the lights are on?

Sounds like your battery is dead, try jump starting it.

I wondered about doing that, but is there any risk disconnecting the battery might set the alarm off? I’m concerned my fellow campers might get miffed.

I think it should be ok..most modern alarms will have their own battery back up. Keep keys with you. May allow systems to reset but sounds like it needs a good charge up!
