Chausson
Hi

Has anyone put a towbar and mounted bike rack on a Chausson with the ford auto engine/gearbox?

I’m wanting to carry two e-bikes.

Good question. Our Adamo is on the Ford Transit mk8 base. I guess the converter putting any bodywork to the rear of the wheels might make for different tow bars.
Can I ask DandJ where you are getting yours from? Thanks

I have been considering adding a bike carrier to my Adria 670 SLT (i realise its a different vehicle, but the solution might be similar if its viable)

the bike carrier we have is too high for convenience and the e-bikes means that a 'lift' bike carrier isnt rated high enough to carry them. i am also a little concerned with regards to the weight on the rear panel.

my thoughts are to have a purpose built 'extension' off the rear chassis. my chassis already seems to have 'extensions' so that a simple box frame type construction should be easy to fit. It WONT be a tow bar (to avoid all the issues re adding a proper towbar) but a frame (basically two arms and a cross member) to fix what would normally be a towbar mounted bike carrier, with the towbar 'bits' removed. There would be NO towball or facility to have one, and the bike carrier would probably be permanently bolted to the 'carrier', there would be an electric trailer socket for lights etc though if its a permanent addition, that may well be a permanently wired connection - has anyone considered or actually done the same thing? is it actually viable?

Sure, we are back in the UK in May so are getting it done at Armitages Towbars at Ferrybridge, West Yorkshire. (They are also doing 2 rear airbags at the same time)
