€3 per person above the rate mentioned on P4N tonight, that’s the most yet! Over the last week it’s been anything from just over a Euro per person to now €3. Is there any set rate or can councils charge what they like? Do Germans pay it? It certainly ramps up the price in an already expensive area like Bavaria….

I never paid tourist tax in the 2 months I was there but I was on Aires not sites but I paid it once in holland

Not been on any sites. All Aires both private and municipal and most adding on what they call tourist tax. Maybe it’s a new thing?

We have only been back 2 weeks but we did not go further south than heidleberg

We’re as far south as you can go, in fact we came into Austria today without realising (€10 vignette needed!) and they do it here too. I’ve read reviews on P4N saying the Stellplatz at Garmische is now €25 plus €3 tax per person so €31 without electric. Lovely part of the world but bloody expensive compared to Spain and France..( and don’t get me started on Switzerland!)

They should bring it in here. We might get our dustbins emptied if the local council had a few more pennies.
I’ve said it loads of times…Spain government has given grants to villages to open small Aires to stimulate the economy after Covid. We stopped in loads of places we would have just driven past because they were on the apps. Most were full, with people spending in local businesses. U.K. should do the same.

We stayed two nights in Mittenwald earliery this year and paid 11€ plus 3€ tax. It was the only time we paid anything in more than two weeks in Germany

What do you do with it if the council don't empty your bins ?

Wrong, just start spending the millions they get properly and not on crap like paying investigators to watch what you put in your bins when we all know ‘recycling ‘ doesn’t get recycled properly anyway.🤬

The eur3 goes towards public leisure services like the hiking trails, etc.

Did you get the https://www.gapa-tourismus.de/guestcard card which provided fee use of the buses in the region, access to swimming pools and discounts on entrance to attractions and services in the area ?

Well worth the 3 euro fee just for the spa pools.

Maybe get more risk assessments?
And what happened before risk assessments?
A few extra people got injured or killed.
Only an issue when it's your friends or families

Wandering off thread as usual

Yes they say that everywhere but to date we haven’t used them at all. We tend to use bikes rather than buses and I’m not really a spa pool person. I get the upkeep of trails etc but I’d prefer to be able to choose what local services I want and pay accordingly.

They would only spend it on new carpets for the C Exec or increase Clrs aka freeloading politicians expenses.Should take a leaf from Turkyie my council tax is 67 quid a year and they empty the bins twice a week in summer Brits are definitely being taken to the cleaners.

Well, there is really only one thing to do and thats vote with your feet, or in this case wheels!

We ve paid touriat in a couple of places in France but there are still some great places to stop that are free. Stopped in a tidy one last night that was free and spent our money in the curry house instead, a rare find in the middle of France 😀

The sud Tirol has quite a high tourist tax but you have free to access to buses, trains etc.

We used the trains to take the bike to start a ride it was well worth the tax.

Horses for courses, I don't understand why we don't do it in the UK.

In Austrian Alps it sometimes includes travel on the gondolas.

Lived there for 12 years while in the Army was told it was to pay for the local amineties think it was called a Kur tax
