To tag or not? If not shld i use debit or credit card. Wish yhey had 1 tage for europe dont want to end up with loads of diff tag accts. Cheers

Definitely to TAG. Just sail through, instead of messing around with leaning out of windows and faffing with credit cards! Most of them have a 30 kph lane, which means you just breeze through, while others are all queueing.

When I order my Liber-T and Via-T I got stung for about £3.00/day for the first month for 'short term use' even though I wasn't using the tags. I tried to get the money back but no joy.

Have you tried it as I’ve just looked at it and the offer seems almost too good to be true at the moment. It works like the ATMB that I’ve had for years for France, Riverbankannie has the same. I’m about to send it back funnily enough as I’ve had it 7 years si I’m sure the battery needs changing! No way of checking unlike my Via T for Spain and Portugal. It costs £9 just to send it back for a new battery!

If you’ve experience of it and it’s good I might be tempted to just send the ATMB back for a Refund plus the VIa T Sanef one and get this as we’ll be travelling through Italy again next year.

Just received my Mango/APRR tag which will be replacing my Liber T tag shortly. One question. The Mango tag arrived in a green metallic resealable bag with this printed on it: "Keep this bag inside your car and put the tag inside when you don't want to use it" Bit confusing as normally we've left the Liber T tag on the windscreen all the time.
Is this just a security recommendation or is there another reason for the advice? I presume that as the tag will only be activated when we get into France, then I can also leave the Mango tag on the windscreen in the UK?
Comments please.

It refers to times that you may pay in cash, or it is in a parking zone where you prefer to pay with your credit card than add it to your tag account (the metallic bag with stop the signal being detected). Many car parks (particularly multi story ones) allow you to use your tag to settle the parking fee.

at present in spain there is hardly any toll roads to use one on?

Emovis for us - does both Spain and Portugal.

They do a separate one for France from memory.

The Mango one also has the option to cover Italy. It is also cheaper than Emovis, like ATMB for France.

A few to catch you out though - AP1 & AP8 round San Sebastián still have toll points (& could affect lots of people crossing into Spain) and some toll motorways round Madrid eg R4.

That's why we're changing to Mango, it's cheaper as well.

Had the APRR now Mango Mobilities for a few years now and works a treat. Recommended to a mate touring Spain France and Italy and he's chuffed to bits

Carolyn it's a 2min job to change the battery it just a standard CR2032 button battery just run your nails around the tag split line to separate it.

No idea why it is advised to put the tag inside the bag when not in use. Just leave ours mounted on the windscreen all the time.

As Gus said..most are now free...the ones you mentioned, the AP 7 from Vera, but most long distance travel in Spain can be driven for free...enjoy it while you can....it's all going to change back in time....perhaps 2024...
Autovias and "N" roads are a great way of getting around Spain....who needs Pay motorways...there is no rush when on holiday...except happy hour....do they still have happy hour....,,🥴👍😃🇪🇦

Please see the earlier answer. It's because this company also operate car parks. Unlike Liber T.

That is so much easier and cheaper than sending the whole thing back which is such a palaver. Thank you very much. I will do that before our next trip as we’ve had no problems ever with ATMB.

It's not for when not in use as such. It's if you want to use a Toll road but want to pay another way. Most tags have a monthly fee which applies even if you use the tag one trip in a calendar month, so for that one trip it would be cheaper to just pay at the toll booth.
The bag just stops the radio transmissions ( Faraday pouch type bag).

I have a tag from atmb for France and would like to add a tag for Spain and Portugal and maybe other countries, can I do this and keep my atmb tag?

Yes.
We’ve had an ATMB tag for France for some years, and 3 or 4 years ago added a Bip&Go one to use in Spain & Portugal. So yes, you certainly can do it - not saying it’s necessarily the most cost effective way to do it, but you can.
