Just arrived on site, went to remove cassette, no joy! Examined inside van, blade is open. Suspect cassette I n serted when blade not fully shut. Jiggling lever, and cassette, no effect. Would REALLY like any advice on how to remove it...

Gloves on, peg on nose, hand into hole, try to ease blade back into position so that the lever can do the last bit of work would be my immediate thought.

Once it's closed the cassette should slide out easily enough.

Yippee a toilet thread.

I had exactly the same problem a couple of days ago and it's a new van. Hand in the hole didn't work so brut force on the leaver worked. It forced the gears off the end then just a case of unscrewing the quadrantand & repostiontioning it.
Now works better than it ever has, I don't reckon it was assembled properly in the first place.

Using your phone camera helps to see what to do once you have the cassette out.

Funny you should say that Lenny HB ..
When I got my brand new van, the toilet was leaking into the recess underneath...
Investigation prooved that the blade seal was not inserted properly.. numerous attempts to prise it into place did not work.. ended up stripping out seal and refitting...👍👍👍

If it's a Thetford toilet, when the cassette is out look inside the cabinet from outside and up on the roof section.
On ours there was a rachet type bracket "saddle clamp " they call it. The screw often became loose and needed to be tightened every now and then..
