I have a Thetford C260 toilet fitted. Last time out the compartment was flood with you know what!
I have since filled it with fresh water to test where the problem was.
I detected it was leaking from the atmospheric vent at the base of the cassette. I cannot find in the manual any reference to this part.
Has anyone suffered similar & how did you cure it?
TIA

If anything is coming out of the vent the cassette is overfilled. Is the empty now light working?

It was coming out of the vent with the cassette removed, only half full of fresh water

I would guess that then cassette has a crack or split allowing fluid to leak out. Possible that it froze, causing the damage. Cure would be plastic welding, some sort of epoxy or cassette replacement.

Do you mean the vent on the top of the cassette that is at the bottom when carrying it ?
if the cassette has been over filled probably just needs a good clean out, also check that the float that puts the 'full' light is free 👍

No. Its the vent on the base. Inset in a circular recess. I was told this it supposed to depressurise in mountainous areas

Do you mean the button? this is pressed when emptying the cassette to allow air to enter as the stuff exits. If that is leaking you should get away with replacing it, or possible taking it apart and cleaning it.

The bottom vent is normally opened by a projection on the Filter / fan unit (if fitted). So it's open all the time the cassette is in place. It closes as the cassette is removed for emptying. If it's leaking when in place and when carried then the tube that rises from the vent to the top of the cassette is damaged inside the cassette.

As said there is a vent at the bottom but it vents via the top (when installed). It is closed when unit is removed from the under toilet hole and also via a float so that if cassette is full it will also be closed.

Look like you have to pop the rectangle out to get to the top of it 👍

33 pushes up on 22, that rocks across to push down on 26 when inserted. 24 keeps it closed when out. Or 25 floats up when full to seal it. Mine was stuck shut so had pressurised cassette till sorted. I assume yours is the opposite and stuck open. Remove 16 and you will know.

I did pop out the panel yesterday & throughly cleaned the mechanism.
Today I rinsed out again. Seems OK at moment, filled it up and only let fluid out when manually prompted.
Maybe debris had lodged blocking the valve?
A picture below shows the offending item.
I have ordered a "freshen up kit" which includes a comple cassette.
I willtravelwith my existing one half full(of water!) and check it out.
At leastI will have another cassette on hand if it reoccurs & only water to mop up!
Thanks for all your responses 🙏 👍

I've had the mis fortune to depress the black vent button when the cassette wasn't fully tilted. I won't be doing it EVER again 😝
