enough to know i shouldnt touch things i know nothing about ....
We originally had a 'lift bike' rack, which i had adapted to fit onto fiamma fixings, it worked perfectly well and meant we didnt have to physically lift the bikes high up onto the previous 'static' bike rack. Unfortunately (for the bank balance), last week someone advertised a chassis mounted bike rack i couldnt resist so i bought it and collected it last Friday.

Finally got around to fitting it this morning - electric towing harness (wiring) now on order to wire it all up .....

anyone looking for a Thule bike lift (or one adapted to fit fiamma mountings?) ....

That looks good and sturdy, not to mention very neat.

Did you get the rack from Barnoldswick? I was looking at one on eBay from there and asked a few questions but was sold before I got all of my answers back.

Are you using a dedicated wiring harness or a bypass relay?

I ended up buying a Memo M-Star and like you have the wiring to do next.

i bought it on here from a Funster for £850, who advertised it on the classifieds. it was a fair price compared to what he had paid to be honest and it wouldnt have surprised me if he had advertised elsewhere. obviously there's more risk in buying pre loved atc and there are no guarantees, but i have found that buying from other Funsters comes with a lot less risk than buying for ebay, gumtree, facebook etc. especially when you can read their posts/messages etc, you can often get a feel for their honesty by reading what theyve written/contributed.

They are massively overpriced in my opinion and shouldnt really be more than £4-500 brand new, but as i managed to sell my rear mounted bike lift (which was fine) it made my wallet a little happier, though quite a but thinner ..... Of course you might have got yours at an even better price ........??????? How much, if you dont mind me asking? i have since chnged how i mounted it, it was too low in my opinion and after sitting down and looking at it, i realised i could easily alter the dimensions, due to the very good design and site it a lot better.

i had a company in Braintree, Essex do the electrics, it cost £250 inc vat and labour. if i had wanted dedicated electrics, then it would have been around £100 dearer. The way it was explained that dedicated electric harnesses are produced specifically for that application and are a complete wiring harness, whereas they made up the harness themselves using the same component parts and cables they cut to the specific lengths themselves.

i originally bought a specific wiring harness, intending to do the job myself, but thankfully they sent the wrong one, that was £180 - so having the towbar company do it for £250 all in wasnt worth be even bothering!

Armitages chassis mounted bike racks are £1700 fitted including electrics or if you have the electric socket already in place the price is £1480, they take 150kg of weight and weight of it is 30kg.

Well done. Easy job for a man of your calibre.

Whoever buys helga will get one of these for free, lucky bugger.

Someone might buy Helga just for the bike rack then, lol 😁😁😁😁

Are you going to advertise her in the classifieds?

yeah, once Jim switches the advert back on. I don't fancy writing it all out again
