You are both right to an extent as it depends how you interpret the question and the answer:

• The actual saving for SORNing for a single month is £22.
• Over 4 months with 2 months SORN and 2 months on the road the average saving per month is £11
• If it was taken over 3 months with 2 months SORN and 1 month on the road it would be a saving of £14.67 a month

Unless you know exactly how many months you're gonna do it for however you cannot be sure of the average saving over the period so just saying when its SORNed you'll save £22 is the most accurate at present.

What a leap from a simple SORN thread.

The western economies have been broken for years, look at all the boom/bust cycles, fake wars. We all take more than the system can give due to the rapid changes in manufacturing/production, population that have taken place.

So your second sentence - how to bring reality back into the equation and get people to live within the means of the planet works for me.

Three local hospital Trusts have had three 'victims' of corona virus ,die, as tested by the non specific test they are given. That is in a population of 1.2 million patient catchment. The expected ' standard flu' would have been about twenty vulnerable people by now. There are no figures for flu deaths available. Just not there. All these current deaths being are from a virus and not specific.
the economic crash is being engineered and governments hijacked by the forces of black government the corporate owners of central banks. They are moving on from'Global Warming' and the like.
Income is stopping across Europe. People held down under 'armed forces, of police and now the armies. It is such a hysteria the in the next move all private movement will be stopped , as in Italy, Spain. France is going down too, we will follow. This has stopped the populist uprisings likr the Catalans ,the gilet jeune and any other s that might appear. Bullets will soon follow if the viral panic fails.
Do you think your pensions will support you. Not when the companies that give them to you, collapse.
Do you think the'Government' are really going to give out trillions in support? Not likely they might print more worthless notes and pretend. Your income is gone from now. If your business or pension is your Support? Crashes and bankruptcies to major companies and private business.

How do I get a SORN car back on the road?​

If you want to start using your car again, simply start Broken Link Removed and resume paying vehicle tax to cancel SORN.​

You need to make sure your car has a Broken Link Removed before you take it back on the road. If you don’t have one, you’re allowed to drive your car to an MOT centre while it’s still untaxed and uninsured. This is the only case in which it’s permitted to drive a SORN car on public roads.​

Myth. Our van is coming up 6 years old and has been stood for 5 months a year, every year. I started it the other day to test the new fuel filter I fitted, before then the engine hadn't turned a crank since September. Started instantly, ran smoothly ?

Also the tyres don't turn for months either, no problems ?

My defender didn't run all winter either, didn't do that any harm.

Totally agree. There are only two things to watch out for: handbrake shoes sticking to drums (leave it off) and clutch plate sticking to flywheel (press pedal to the floor once every couple of weeks).

Not so.
A SORN'd vehicle is not legally required to be insured. (But obviously no recompense if damaged/stolen).
However, it is a legal requirement that if a vehicle is not insured it must be SORN'd.

Quite so, and that was the situation even before the introduction of SORN ('Statutory OFF ROAD Notice') , and still is.
SORN was introduced primarily to identify uninsured vehicles when the ANPR equipment was introduced.

France will be OK if you fill in the form and state you are returning to home in the UK. That is an acceptable reason I understand. On other threads people are reporting no problems getting through.

There may be even greater restrictions in a fortnight so, it might be worth leaving now or the end of next month. Try and get something out of it but not a lot allowed now. I would not order or buy another one just for it to stand there for months, if it even ever arrived.

I have decided not to SORN, my little bit wont make a lot of difference in the bigger picture, but our government has ploughed billions into our welfare, that will benefit our children more than us

but the country could have to find millions it doesn’t have just to give a few £’s back

my hope is that those of you that have sorned are also too money minded to retax before the start of a new month when this is all over, giving me and a few others a few days of free travel in the U.K. with choice of sites ??

My sentiments exactly but I fear the hoards of penny pinchers out there will be the first to retax when they once again are allowed to use their vans after allowing Boris to look after them in their possible hour of need.
