I always compare but for the past few years our 3 vehicle insurances have proved cheapest on LV Multi-car. This year that isn't the case and we can save £372 over the three vehicles by going elsewhere.

Motorhome £558 down to £537
My Car £427 down to £216
Her Car £486 down to £346

I assume that much of the 21% increase in this year's LV prices may be due to me turning 80.

I suppose I'm writing this because I have read before about difficulties in getting motorhome insurance over 80 unless maybe you are an existing customer. I'm looking for input from anyone who has experience, first or second hand of this situation.

I'm tempted to move the two cars but stay with LV for the motorhome which will then cost a bit more due to no longer being multi-car insurance.

The £21 saving on the motorhome looks quite small and I would be inclined to stay with LV. Savings on the car are substantial so worth moving providing cover is as good.

Have you tried getting LV to match the price of your other quote? We have Hymer, plus 2 cars on same policy with LV and not long renewed, though did not feel the need to try for a lower price elsewhere.

If you leave LV motorhome insurance you won’t be able to go back to them as they are no longer taking on new Motorhome clients so I’d certainly keep it for the van as people say they’re good although I have no experience of them .

Be aware LV are not taking any new motorhome insurance. They will quote for existing customers but not new we were told.

Was the motorhome cover offer from CMC if so the £25 less than your currant renewal quote won't apply next year and you may be in for a shock.

Beaten to it, alas

My car and motorhome are with LV and I considered a change however I had our car written off last year with a no fault claim LV were absolutely great they had my payment to my bank within a week and sorted everything out for me without hassle and I think that speaks for itself.
I have stayed put as better the devil you know 😊

So a fruity quote?!! ;)

Just off the phone. LV dropped quote by £41 when pressed. They would only go further if I reduced the benefits (eg a further £65 off for increasing the excess to 500)

Also, the Hymer would go up by £30 if it was on it's own.

The C&MC quote was about £1300. Ha! Think I'll cancel my membership.

Between us we have over a hundred years no claims so not too keen to pay over the odds for good service that (touch wood) we may not need. - Other than for the motorhome where level of service abroad would be vital.

On a similar subject, the comparison site's maximum no claims box was 25 years so I ticked that as I have a lot more claims free motoring. Then to be safe I changed this to the 9 years shown on LVs renewal quote and the price jumped up £40. WTF!

I would say that all though our Ducato is not with LV, we have had 3 claims with them. 2 for car park damage (no fault of ours) and 1 for house minor subsidence. In all case they were superb, quick and efficient.

Unfortunately we have not had any claims :(

Well it's all done now. Saved £380 by moving the two cars but reinsured the motorhome with LV. As an added bonus LV took another £32 off the price.

Also had tried NFU as recommended on this site but they only insure up to 79 years old.
