To Germany ??... somewhat reluctantly

We drove to Berchtesgaden tacr2man and hoped to go to Königssee but the carparks were all totally mobbed and we were running out of time to collect the boy from Regensburg so we turned round and headed north.
We had a lovely couple of nights on rivers just north west of Regensburg ... and a huge electrical storm overnight after a glorious day at the second. I’ve never experienced anything like it ... a caravan had left its roof light open and had it ripped off, 2 A-frame tents were flattened and a gazebo ended up in the river along with sleeping mats and sleeping bags. Photo of boy and his dad river swimming.

Loving your thread and have to say you've missed a treat at the Mercedes Museum, we visited a few years back and what a great day out. If in the area again you'll find a campsite close by and you can park at the Museum during the day.

I think we will return lorger - to say Germany surpassed my expectations doesn’t even come close ?. Was sad to miss Mercedes but loved Rothenburg ... we had too much to cover in not enough time. Definitely no motorhome parking at the museum any more they confirmed that by email but the campsite is an option. Next time we’ll have bikes too which should make getting about significantly easier

They might not have parking for MH's in their car park but loads of on street parking and paid car parks, we parked our last MH there and it was 7.5M so you'll not have a problem as long as Stuttgart aren't playing at home that day.

Rothenberg is a great place, nice campsite by the river about 2km out. Will go back there for sure.

Is that the one at Detwang (camping tauberromantik)? If so, we‘re there in 3 weeks??

I'm not so impressed with German cyclists today. Minding my own business along the sunny Moselle, lots of oncoming on the bike path. Two women riding side by, only at the last second did the one furthest from me tell the one just about to hit me head on to move over. I had nowhere to go apart into the nettles.

Quite a few brain dead or blind cyclists.

But never mind, we still love the place.

And for the first time ever we pitch up and behind is an RV who is a FUNster, that was big bonus.

Our plan was to visit Forchheim and Bamberg and head further north for a few days but we failed totally to find any day parking in either and didn’t want to pay overnight rates for 2-3 hours. We only had a few days holiday left with my son and this was his first camper van experience so we wanted it to be fun - not frustrating, driving around.
So we turned our plan on it’s head and headed back to the Mosel. The boy and his dad had a swim in Mosel Therme spa and we visited Bernkastel Kues and Zell which we had missed first time round.
