To cover or not to cover??

Well its not a motorhome,its my little 30 year old caravan,its just been resealed along all the joints and the air vents,ive popped it on the drive for the winter,and covered it with a caravan cover that came with it(miles too big) but ive fastened it on with grips and bungees etc,however because of the horrific winds i wonder if ive done the right thing in covering it ,? And will i be doing more damage to it letting the material flap about,against paintwork and windows etc. what would you do?
