Good day Funsters,
It is time to replace my tyres, they are just over 6 years old and have done plenty of miles and the tread, although still on the legal side, is not as deep as I would like them to be. On the last service I was 'advised' to replace them before the next MOT. I have a N&B Arto 69GL 2005 (amazing A Class).

Question: Should I stay with Michelin Agilis M+S, or should I go for something different - I want to stay with All Season/M+S?
I have seen some Michelin Crossclimate, set of 4 for £732, is that a good price?
How much should I spend on tyres - do you pay for what you get?

Looking forward to the discussion.

Think Lenny will be along soon and also recommend Toyo. Think that’s what I’m putting on ours next.

I fitted four Yokohama all season tyres to my PVC, they cost just shy of £400 fitted and balanced at National Tyres. I am very please with their grip, especially on grass smoothness, fuel economy and noise.

If you want All Season, then I think that there are five to choose from in 225/R15 (my size). From my research, the following make the cut:

I will be going Bridgestone Duravais All season next time out (Spring next year). I've got Bridgestone on my car and they are the best in the wet I have ever used, by a mile. Doubt you will get change out of £600 for four though.

Note that the Agilis Cross Climate comes in two speeds, 'S' & 'R'. Difference was about three quid per tyre last time I looked.

There are others but they are B and C for wet, so I wasn't interested.

If you opt for summer only, then you can get the coveted A for Fuel and A for Rain tyre.

A lot of people use summer all year round - just not where winter tyres are mandatory.

Thanks for the link - a good report on the Toyo Observe, very tempting and will be in my final list

We only use our van between April and October so I'm happy with the Continental Vanco camper tyres.

Black Circle price

Now at £175.82 each -I'm having four fitted next month Plus £15 each to have them fitted.

Michelin Cross Climates 2 are £175.15

I would go with the Continentals as I have had a lot of trouble with the Michelins side walls cracking far to soon 🙁

Everyone will have a different opinion, mine is that I stay with OEM on everything that I have and decide if I want summer/winter/all season. Her car: summer/winter, my car: Summer, MH All season, all OEM brand.

Had my Michelin Agilis All Season Camping on for 10 years now. No cracking, inside or out, great tread ware and inspected regularly by me. No issues whatsoever on MOT either and I do chat to the tester to give them a thorough inspection.

Talking to Michelin, they say 10 years, but only replace them once they show signs or ware or delaminating or cracking.

I use the van all the time, so never left static for long. Once they need replacing, I’ll defo go with the same, after all, it’s what Auto Trail fitted from new.

Check your door jam and manual. You can probably fit 225x70 R16 without any issues. It'll give you more choice.

112 load rating may e OK for a sub 3500KG PVC, but if you have a higher rated MAXI chassis, or a MH, C Class or A Class you will probably need a higher load rating min 116 or 121 ideally

I will be reverting to Avon Continentals next time which is what I had on my Autotrail Savannah. I have 6 Michelins on the Arto at present but not terribly impressed to be honest!

My Michelins are only 3 years old but no signs of cracking although they are on 24,000 miles and pretty close to the wear beads.
New Continentals next week.

Just orders Michelin Agilis CrossClimate 215 70 15 S. Have the CrossClimate 2 on the car and they are fantastic. Beware the speed ratings as you cannot go down a speed rating but you go up as based on the UK law the speed index must be the same or higher than approved
