Hi All,

After 18 months I think I've destroyed my vehicle battery. (I need a recommendation)

I've let it run low a couple of times. And recently left it for 6 weeks without hook-up so it died with the constant draw of the alarm, I managed to get it started after a charge and drive the hour home, after which it started OK, but after a few days was totally dead.

(note: I did have a solar helping to keep it topped up but the panel became obscured by leaves )

Now its taking a charge, but dropping off really quickly once disconnected.

I'm assuming its now beyond saving, so need a new one, hence this post. This battery was THIS ONE and labelled as "wet". I'm assuming this is the standard lead acid type.

Should I be upping to an AGM ? or something else?

When I search using my vehicle type Fiat-Ducato-2006-2.3-Diesel, it throws up any size from huge 019 size, or 017 size and 096 size in an array of Ah's (85, 95, 100) and Amps (640 up to 900)

When I got the van 2 years ago it had a 096 size looking battery and looked lost in the engine bay, so when it failed, I replaced with a 019 which was about as big as would fit, and that worked great until I ruined it.

The van is an early 2006 (pre-facelift) without stop start.

Mockery is accepted, but only when offering advice please.

TIA

Siblo

Siblo I have a 100AH, 900CCA lead acid starter battery which I assume is 019 on my 2006 pre face lift 2.3 litre van.
