Just clumped a tree branch and now the omnistor electric awning won't open. Whirs for a second, then decides it can't open. Pics attached.

Any frontier maintenance ideas to get it working? Just as the bloody sun comes out as well ...

I'd add that the plastic doesn't want to bend at all. Looks like it should just snap back in, but I'm scared to force it in any direction on case I make it worse.

Is that not just a plastic end cap on the awning?

If so, it should remove to reveal the workings under it.

Ooooops just noticed Lenny HB has already said that!

You need to take the end cap off and have a look may have broken a gear or drive shaft.

It looks like one, but it's solid feeling. And I've lost my rubber mallet...

As above remove the end cap. Might have a screw(s) retainer in the front end, and should pop off.
Looks like you might have tree debris inside fouling the mech.
I wouldn't try to get it back in place without checking the gear mech.
If you've a manual override, worth trying after end removed before electric.

That end piece is screwed in from inside, you need to open the awning to get to it.

Anyway, further investigation shows that it is the top bit that has been pushed down, not the end piece being pushed up. can't get a decent pic at the moment.

Doubt that is a DIY job.

What model is the awning?
How about making sure no debris in the groove and try a bit of gentle heat and a tad of silicone grease.
Could try to ease the pressure from the end cap once cover is warmed.

Sitting in the shade doodling.
Looks like the part underneath with the winder hole might unclip. This could access the retainer screw? Or give you an access to knock the top cover up?
