My next project, yes it’s been a long time
Since fitting E&P jacks we often find the hab step is a little bit too high for comfort. So I have just this minute ordered one at £120 delivered.
With my comprehensive set of hammers I will amalgamate it into our Rapido with or without it’s cooperation
If you have a similar situation subscribe to this thread for pictures and guidance so if it goes tits up you can ignore it

My initial survey concluded that this has sufficient ground clearance whilst dropping about 130mm from the existing step. The top of the step will be at 108mm on the tape measure

With your love of tinkering with electric stuff Andy I'd have thought you'd have gone for an electric step! :)

I was thinking that myself.:) But he likes getting his hands mucky so .....................;)

ps E&P jacks? Looks more like a cable drum and tape measure to me.

Forums are full of electric step faults
Keep it cheap and simple

... and levelling jacks ?????? Don't think they can be classed as cheap and simple whereas a set of Milenco (other makes available) levelling ramps can! :D

Get right in there girlie!:giggle::giggle::giggle:

I can’t take all my wheels off with ramps

Exactly what we're using whilst part awaited for our electric step.(y)
Knew there was some reason I held onto the bits from the caravan. Wonder if the Al-Ko wheel locks will fit a Ducato?:whistle:

Yes I could have bought a stool but that would be yet one more item to find a place for. I'm happy to pay the extra £100 even if I have to pull it myself.

Also if I don't have just the right hammer to instal it I'm only £120 out rather than £250

Yes, us too, even though ours works perfect electric ones are such a pain. We were at the Harrogate show recently and a big, fat bloke broke an electric one when getting into a 125 grand new Hymer.
You should have owned up David instead of just walking off:LOL::ROFLMAO:

Just arrived by DPD and 1hr delivery notification
Looks well made and quite straight forwards
Height is adjustable by choice of location of brackets
Step slides very easily
A job for tomorrow perhaps

Nice simple looking bit of kit.. if there are convenient mounting points under the van a straight fwd fit..(y)
Andy.

I'm expecting it will fit within the area of the Rapido step moulding which is very thick. Plan A is to bolt it directly to that. Plan B may be some additional metalwork.

The step on the chausson is simply bolted into the floor which is just dense foam material, with coarse threaded self tapping bolts..
Didnt think it was satisfactory but its still there:LOL:

The slide out i fitted on the pvc had to have the rear brackets mounted so the step was level...as there was little option for locating the front mounts..
Fingers crossed and looking fwd to the photos...(y)

Im just waiting for a DPD delivery myself... im impressed with their system and you can check the progress of your parcel :D

Ok it’s been a while as I’m busy doing nothing these days.
Anyway I got my arse in gear today. I quickly concluded the only way this will fit was to make a subframe. Visit to my local metal dealer yielded offcuts of stainless steel for £20
and £2.50 ironmongers on bolts

This should now with any luck go straight on without any hardship
The front two holes attach to the existing bolts that connect the door frame to the footwell and the other end just needs two small bolts or self drilling screws to the chassis. The direction of force at that end will be upwards not downwards

So it turned out to be plan B Andy

The difference between the footwell and the new step is 5.25” a significant reduction overall and still the lowest part of the step is as high as the Jack feet off the road 180mm

I can't get my head round this. When arriving on site you still need a parachute to leap out to pull the step for your loved one.

When departing, after you love one shouts "you've forgotten the step" and you stop, you then need to carry a pole to vault back in after pushing in the step.

However, a man with your skills and a windscreen wiper motor should make the job a proper job easily enough.

I don’t have a problem with the height of the step but Jacs does and I have previous parachute experience (y)

On site first outing and nicely halves the stepping distance
