planning one…
Thule elite rack - I should be able to get a 22k e-bike on? Can’t see why there is a weight limit for one bit, compared with overall limit.
Has anyone tried this?

I haven't tried it, but since each bike is supported separately, maybe that's why there is an individual bike limit??

I used to - my Ebike is 25kg or about 20kg with the front wheel and battery removed.

I used the rack on it’s lowest setting as you really feel the weight of the bike if it is on the highest setting.

Do you mean feel the weight lifting onto rack, or does it drive differently?

Both really - it's a long way up to lift the weight of the bikes and on the highest rack setting it was noticeable when driving.

If we use our standard tow bar rack with my heavy e-bike (+30kgs) then i always put it on the rail closest to the car to reduce the effect as much as possible, our rack is rated at 40kgs.

17.5kgs on the inside rail and 17.5kgs on the out rail will have a greater effect vs 35kgs all on the rail closest to the vehicle.

I presume that most of the concern for the good is the hinge, but assume that this is greatest when door open.
I guess I’m hoping that at max load, if doors are closed all the time, things will be ok.
Also considering support for door when opened, even just a piece of wood with a ‘V’ cut into it.
