Thule Awning rubbed on coach mirror

So, whilst on a ferry crossing in Greece, where they pack you in tight, with mirrors folded in, I was unfortunate to rub my awning against a coach mirror, which left a white streak about 1.5m long on my dark grey awning. I have found out from Thule that the awnings are not painted, but anodised aluminium. Is there any safe way to get this paint transfer of the surface without making the surface shiny?

Try toothpaste on a soft cloth.

Petrol safe on anodised aluminium. Thinners OK if not left on too long. Any abrasive risks polishing the surface.

If Thule are being truthful and it is anodised aluminium, then acetone will remove the paint and not affect the anodising.
