Has anyone ever replaced the main housing on a Thule 5200 electric awning?

It picked a fight with a tree branch, lost, and now won't open. The motor tries to turn but gives up. The casing does look dented but it's possible everything else is ok.

Thule dealer wants over £600 smackers to replace it - wondered if it was within the realms of DIY-dom, though the fact I'm even asking might make it outside of mine...

Depends on your level of diy skill.
For some it would be worth doing, for others they would pay the dealer

Had mine damaged well beyond repair , we took it off , took three of us, no idea what it weighs but massively more than I expected

Presuming the £600 includes the casing it doesn’t sound bad value , plus they can check and fix any internal damage you might get find when you can open it 👍

Yeah, on reflection we're going to let a Thule dealer do it.

I get these (often San Miguel induced) delusions that I have some DIY skills sometimes, but they don't last long ...
