Thoughts on removing satellite system due to need being needed

We have been considering removing the dish and arm and fixing a solar panel on where the dish was. Using it as a tilting solar panel that can be easily moved to follow the sun.

Didn't know this was an option. Did it cost much?
£90 , new LNB and reprogram of the max view box , the LCD now shows SkyQ in the display .
Just take the Q box from home with remote .

Our MH has a nice Oyster Satellite system. Looks like I need to spend £140-ish on getting it updated. This has prompted the question, is it worth it, or should we ditch it altogether?

Like many, we have a FireTV, connected TV, unlimited data, so it's not like we need the dish. I like gadgets though :)

I've looked on eBay, and I'm not sure they sell well second hand, so probably wouldn't get any much for it, and will probably have to spend money on the update anyway before selling.

Would it lower the resell value of the MH significantly. Is satellite a selling point now? Or just a waste of weight?

Are they easy to remove? :)
Been there done it , very very happy , now use a -5 quid magnetic aerial.
Easy to get off with much advice from funsters.
Left the brackets on , no issues.
A funster wanted the old dome so they paid the postage, it was a beast!

Our dome has shattered and we don't want the system and are having it removed. Does it have a value without the dome?

If replacement domes are available a a reasonable price, yes.

We had a Maxview Crank-up on our last Motorhome.
Never needed any software updates and could get a perfect picture in seconds.
Changed the LNB to a SkyQ one for £32.

If I decide to go down the satellite route for this MH, will definitely go with the Crank up version.
Far less in price and far less to go wrong.

A replacement dome is about £150 upwards depending on make😊
