Those happy days, YouTube.

We've been watching them, on and off. The new van is huge. The weight looks enormous, and there's a lot of it high up which is isn't going to be great for handling. Considering they changed vans because the bed in their first van wasn't big enough for Liam, their decision to have a transverse bed in the new van is very odd. They've plenty of room to have a decent sized bed lengthways in the van, but they've gone with a transverse one which they've already said isn't really long enough, and they reduced the insulation on the sides of the van in order to gain extra bed space. Bizarre in a van they're FTing in, when you'd want all the insulation you can sensibly install.
The new build is coming along and looking quite nice, but the shower is tiny and the very nice sink has NO space whatsoever next to it so if you wash anything you're going to drip all over the floor while moving it from sink to the nearest available worktop.
It'll be interesting to see how they get on with it once it's finished.
They don’t seem to be very clued up about measurements and Liam the Terrible not really pointing them in the right direction. I haven’t yet seen finished van but I worry about headroom and ventilation above the bed.

Are they young, if so why would they need a toilet in the middle of the night 🤔😂
That was just an expression, I actually meant any time if they are not near a toilet.

Well last night Liam the terrible actually put an underslung water tank on this van but still no sign of a grey tank or toilet.
But one thing he did that I haven't seen before was to fit a water heater , that he said worked off 12 volt, never seen one before, but he had to have the engine running all the time.

My van has a water tank which can be heated from 12v, but as said, only when the engine is running. And it's not a very powerful way to heat water, so even in my 6 litre hot water tank, it takes AGES to really make a substantial difference so they'd have to do a lengthy drive for it to take effect. It's much easier to switch on the hot water 240v switch at the same time as cooling the fridge on hook up before leaving home! It takes very little time then to heat the water.

They've now got the new van. Freda is on Ebay. 20k buy it now price. For a 15 year old transit its a bit steep. The new van has been weighed and it was 3200kg. Not surprised with the amount of wood that went in.

All those van builds seem to go mad for the wood. The other half said what does she actually do ? He seems to do all the cooking. They do seem to like coffee shops etc so must have a few Bob.

From what I have gathered they appear to have other websites where they do adverts for these coffee shops they keep visiting, but I think there's a lot goes on behind the scenes that they don't put on, this new van has had up to three guys working on it for 7 weeks plus all the stuff they have put in it and buying it in the first place , must be well up towards 50 grand, plus standing out on the price of the old one they up to 70 grand, you don't make that sort of money riding about.
Not knocking them though they seem a nice couple, not your usual flt.

Have you watched any canal boaters on YouTube ? I see that the couple of blokes on foxes afloat are back on dry land now. They are on about having a small holding in Scotland, I guess it shows that the nomadic lifestyle is not for everyone.

£20,000!!! My 2012 Transit conversion with hot water, shower, loo etc etc must be worth £50,000 then if that tatty old thing, poorly converted, is supposed to be worth that! And there am I with a guaranteed valuation of only £12,000 🤨

Liam the terrible did a blog last night on their new one which they are supposed to be picking up to night, although he has built it to their specs, he doesn't seem very impressed with it and it still hasn't got a toilet, it has a log burner but he seemed to think they wouldn't be able to use it without the doors open and various things.
For anyone interested Liam and Janine are supposed to be doing one live tonight at 8 o clock on the pickup and answering questions.
It's what they wanted but it's hard to see why they have done some of the things they have with all the money they have spent.

The log burner seemed to be a complete waste of space. They have a diesel heater so it's a bit pointless. The floor looks completely unfinished as well. It all just looks a bit rough round the edges.

Liam the Terrible did a live about the same time and loads of people were asking questions about how they think Liam and Janine have fell out with him over the build.
I have been watching his videos on the build and seems to me they have changed there minds on the layout lots of times, and that’s why it’s took longer than they thought it should.

You can also see more of the van build if you look for "Liam the terrible" on you tube. They have certainly got a load more room in the new build but for me there's just far too much wood. It looks like a mobile sauna. With all that weight up top it's going to roll like a dinghy in storm. I also wondered about a toilet and a grey tank. Haven't seen any evidence of either. It's an entertaining watch though.
I asked Liam about the weight of all the wood and he stated that the payload was 1500kgs. But on pick-up the couple commented on the fact that payload was poor and that they would not be able to have the roof deck they wanted. I suspect it will not be going anywhere near a weighbridge anytime soon.
I do not understand why they would have a wood burner installed, they will have to carry a lot of wood and where do they dump their ash?
2 charming people with not a great deal of sense, but plenty of courage I think.

They did a question and answer thing live last and a couple of times he was asked about a toilet but he just put it off by saying they couldn't agree on one, and as to the cost he said they are going to cost it out and put it on later but it sounds as if they are getting deep in debt.
All power to them for doing their own thing, but I don't think we see the whole story.

Oh and they did touch on the weight, but he seems to think they are allowed to be 5%over weight, so that's ok.
I hope I'm wrong but can't see it going well with all the things that are not quite right.

I asked on a youtube comment and they said it had been weighed and came in at 3200kg. That was before they picked it up so I assume empty van. They are going to struggle. After watching last night's live Q&A I think they are putting a very positive slant on something that has gone not terribly well. They have water leaks, gas leak, diesel heater isn't working and the Woodburn is unsafe. Not a great start! Liam the terrible seamed like a nice guy but he's looking like a but of a cowboy now. He has offerer to fix it all but it should all have been working on hand over after a shakedown trip.

I worry that Liam the terrible who appears to be just a full timer who has converted his own van, has no real experience of converting van professionally and no Gas fitting qualifications.
As regards delays etc. That’s only to be expected, mine was supposed to take 6 to 8 weeks it took 12 months and that’s was from a guy who had converted at least 20 vans.

Did you see Liam the terribles comment in his last blog on this van.
" Next week we are starting on a proper conversion not a thing like this one"
And in last night's ,Liam said the back doors are rediculas, but it was him that bought a van with huge back doors, it comes with buying a removal van.

Wish they were on here to ask as I don't do subscribing on YouTube.
YouTube is free you don't have to subscribe.

I can't understand why they want or what use a "sundeck" on the roof will be. The access through the sun roof seems awkward and the amount of room on the deck tiny. An accident waiting to happen? 😱

Complete waste of weight.
I honestly don't like to criticize this couple as they genuinely seem to be nice people, but can't help but see it ending in tears.

When I go to YouTube I can never see these buttons they all go on about, all I get is a full picture on the screen, I look at loads of channels and never been able to subscribe to any of them as I never get the button they point to.

Was discussing this with someone yesterday and we both think it'll be very surprising if they're still in this van in 18 months time.

Yeah I think the same, they have never come over as your usual "van lifers" they seem to be doing it just to make a YouTube thing not as a lifestyle.
And I have to say she doesn't seem well to me.

Sorry to go on about this but there is no mention of taxing it ,has it been changed to campervan or is it still a box van or what.
So many things just don't ring true and must say it intrigues me.

I have never found how to do the "buttons" whilst watching on tv but it's easy on a tablet where the 👍 or subscribe button is shown. These "liked" or subscribed channels will then appear on your TV. Hope I've made that a bit clear 😏
