I need two new batteries and I'm thinking of buying LITHIUM can anyone give me their views please

Pricey but a good move. They work well with a decent solar set up and a B2B.

Might need to check your current on board charger is compatible with your new batteries.

Hi
I have lithium, but only 1 battery, I didn't see the point of buying 2, it's a 320ah. I got it from Oaktree motorhomes as the owner (Rob) also owns a battery manufacturer I just can't recall the name. It was quite expensive - £1300 but they have come down in price since.

Is this for the Bürstner you’re selling or for the new one when It arrives?

Like any other product you only get what you pay for cheap doesn’t mean good. Lithiums are so easy to disguise.

And your wiring is heavy duty enough.
Only my opinion though, Thanks.

If your 2 current batteries are doing the job and there is no requirement for extra electricity then I would ask why you would want lithium.

Offgrid Power Solutions has 15% off until midnight on all products for Motorhomefun members, they sell Fogstar plus their own lithium batteries.

OP says he needs 2 new batteries so I'm presuming they aren't doing the job.

That's my take on it at least.

2 are better than one if you need a higher discharge rate via inverter etc. so 2 x 100 are better than 1 x200. Though cost is more for 2. Look at the discharge rate for 1 and see if it enough for your needs, (probably will be)
Then you would need to make sure you have a b2b to control the charge, aswell as the other chargers to be lithium compatible.

Fogstar have a good rep, and offgrid power solutions have a discount atm, (member on here)
what batteries and set up do you have now, and we can advise more

There are pros and cons to having just one or two lithium batteries. A single 100Ah lithium will pretty much match 2x 105Ah LA batteries in terms of usable power, so if you were to go for a single 230Ah+ lithium battery you would have double or more capacity. One of the advantages of having a single larger lithium battery, is that you have a single battery to monitor in the app so it's easier to see where you're at in terms of the state of charge. Obviously having two batteries will give you a bit more redundancy.
Most 100Ah lithium batteries on the market have a smaller discharge capacity, often between 50A and 100A. Most 230Ah+ lithium batteries have 150A+ discharge capacity. Our Offgrid & Fogstar 230Ah+ batteries have 200A discharge capacity, which will allow you to run an inverter up to around 2400w.

We've worked Roamer & KS Energy batteries, and have been building our own batteries for several years now and are currently distributors/installers for Fogstar. All of these have good reputations and are good options.

In terms of upgrades to chargers, I usually recommend that customers prioritise charging as follows:
  1. B2B
  2. Solar
  3. Mains
Usually a B2B is important and often necessary if you have a smart alternator. Some folk get away with things working fine without an alternator, but I usually check this on a case by case basis and sometimes it requires actually monitoring how the alternator works with your lithium battery.

The solar and mains are often not essential, initially. We often have customers that will have a lithium battery installed with a B2B then they see how they get on with their existing chargers. Often they'll come back to upgrade their solar charger to an MPPT.

A lot of the time you can get away with the existing mains chargers in motorhomes as they're often fairly dumb chargers without equalisation, etc.. and often have a gel profile that will work fine with lithium. It may just not charge the lithium to 100% as the voltage may be slightly lower than the lithium needs, but will charge to 95% so if you have a B2B or MPPT that has a lithium profile, then either of those can take care of the remaining 5%.

Obviously, if you have the budget to upgrade everything, then you get the best performance. But for a lot of people, the barrier to upgrading is because they think they need to upgrade all chargers, which is often not the case.

Yes we replaced our one 95ah battery with a 230ah lithium - same position, less weight, more power. Ecotree battery from Oaktree in Nottingham

For us going Lithium was a great advantage as we off grid most if the time...
We could only accommodate a 160ah in the space we have...but a year on...it's been brilliant...we went with Roamer... bit more expensive than some others...but a 10 year guarantee sold it..

We replaced the 2, 100ah lead batteries with a single 300ah Fogstar which I thought offered the best overall vfm after a lot of research.I liked the fact it came with a 10 year warranty and having used their support line a couple of times, very happy with that decision. We go off gridding for around 5 days all year round so it's going to be a game changer. The discount above is well worth considering especially as Nigel was really helpful with advice with installing a few components I needed to upgrade.

I have a fogstar 105 that will replace 2 x 85ah Trojan gel. So I am hoping to get a bit longer off grid power from.

As advised on here. I am awaiting a Victron B2B from OPS.

This will be charged from my victron inverter charger on mains and 2x80w solar with an additional 50w to be added.

Seems fogstar and off offgrid power solutions would be your best option

I had an ecoworthy advert pop up in my e mails and for example a 100ah lithium battery is £279.99 less a £10 introductory reduction.
I rechecked the website in Spain and the same battery is 249.99 euros which equates to circa £219
I am tempted to order a couple through the Spanish website.
Any one have any comments re the ecoworthy batteries.

Ecoworthy aren't very hot on customer service, I don't hear glowing reports about their batts but I don't hear anything bad about them either. My solar panel from them has been fine.
