Things for the van you never knew you needed

Net curtains!
Why on earth would I need them, I wondered. when we first got our Hymer, several years ago.
Then we went to France and used the Aires……I found out why I needed net curtains!
Was it an Aire or a dogging site? 😎

a cigar Thermidor.
Is that a bit like a humidor but using lobsters to keep the cigars from drying out?

:D

We've just come back from a couple of weeks jaunt up in the alps with a very bare bones van.

It's a great way of really pinning down what you need and what you want.

When I say bare bones I really do mean a mattress on the floor, no insulation or even panels on doors and walls.

Yes, it does have solar and a 300Ah battery and that managed to power the fridge, lights and heater perfectly well - but not much more.

You learn all sorts of things, such as your Trelino toilet will get condensation inside it at -6 :D

It most definitely needs insulation but I was surprised at how well it coped in sub zero temps without.

I guess a dishwasher might make sense for full timers. They're supposed to be very water efficient. I haven't got round to running water yet, so I'm a little way off that for now!

Spencer wells artery forceps. Used to extract the bleedin hoselock end from our water inlet pipe.
