Hi all
I know everyone has their own ideas but our van has a built in flush so we can't use the pink fluid to make it smell nice after use,
What is the general consensus on use to keep it smelling ok
we used the blue thetford original but it isn't great.
we used the new ozone friendly green one and that's ok ish

just looking for what people use I know some use the drop in blocks from places like B&M

cheers

We recently tried both Lidl and Aldi bio pods but none were up to the job. Back to AquaKem pods for us but the green version, so far so good.

FYI if you switch from blue to green you’ll need to get rid of every trace of blue first, luckily we had a new cassette from the start.

I await the influx of sog comments 😂

Make up your own pink spray. I use about 5:1 water:pink. Spray after use for the same effect.
If you use blue that contains formaldehyde you could destroy a site's septic tank. Some sites insist on green.

Lots of us don’t flush, we make up a spray bottle and use that to fine spray the toilet after a tiddle, that way you can extend your time between emptying it if you’re away from a site.

I also don’t put the loo roll in the toilet, unless it’s stained and then goes down the ole, but otherwise it goes into a separate bin and emptied daily.

Have a sift through these, as most use a cheap bio tab from the likes of Lidls etc. Some use the posher Solibo and others chemical toilet tabs, so you can choose your best option.

Same as above, I make up my own in a spray bottle. The smell of the Pink is pure motorhoming/caravanning to me :)

EDIT - Just to say that I only use the spray to make the toilet smell nice after using the flush. I now also use Dr Beckmanns Laundry Sheets in the cassette, instead of the Thetford Blue.

You can get the pink stuff in a spray which you spray on after you've flushed. Alternatively you can try Solbio, at first glance it looks expensive however you only need 40ml per cassette instead of the Thetford chemicals and you can also dilute it in a spray for after flush. The smell is not unpleasant in my opinion but it's not as perfumed as the Thetford stuff.

We just use aqua chem green sachets. Not noticed a problem. Usually empty when about half full.

Could you explain why please ?

In our new van we don’t have a separate tank for the flush so I bought a Screwfix garden spray and use a very dilute Thetford pink solution. I’d just bought a brand new bottle before we collected the van. Works a treat. We use green sachets. We gave the washing detergent a try but were not impressed. We followed all the rules.

Silvio works well but is less convenient being a liquid.

Solbio works well as long as you put enough water in as well. Unfortunately SWMBO doesn't like the scent so back to green!
We like Solbio best. The eucalyptus fragrance doesn’t seem to go down well with everyone but they also do Solbio marine which has citrus fragrance, not tried the marine because we like the eucalyptus.

We prefer Elsan Organic to any of the AquaKem versions, it can be used as a flush additive as well as in the tank so we just dilute some in a spray bottle.

I meant Solbio, I didn’t notice autocorrect’s new invention of Silvio!!

Do they break down like toilet paper?
Or are they more fibrous so will cause proper for the sewage system?

For me, nasty smelling stuff, just like the sewer in hot weather.
