Thetford Hob & Oven CK13000 Problem

The electric hot plate element and gas ignition unit spark generator have both failed at the same time on our oven/hob. The replacement cost for these items is an eye-watering £75 & £96 respectively.
Before I go ordering new parts, can anyone suggest where a possible fault might be? It’s a bit of a coincidence that both electrical parts have failed at the same time.

I would get an electrician to test the resistance of the plate first as there are several potential wiring and other component faults, ie the on/off switch, which to me, as a retired spark, may well be the problem.
